People that were working primarily on SETI@home have transitioned to Breakthrough,

Obviously I'm confused, Eric. I thought SETI@home and Breakthrough were part of the same effort. I take it they're not. (?)

As I mentioned to Bob, the "270" was supposed to be "720".

Sorry Bob,

Thanks for your response!

Lysdexik typo. :-)

It's GT 720. And it's a Core 2 2.40GHz. Have no idea what I was thinking. ;(

I will try making the changes you've suggested...

... Yes, I've found that group of preferences and enabled the GPU on all the machines.

Running most current version of BOINC on a Windows 7 -32bit machine with Nvidia GT270 card (which is in the compatible list.) CPU is a Core2 3.04GHz.
SETI properties show "Don't request tasks for NVIDIA GPU -Project preference"
I don't see any way of changing this... Or is it SETI's preference that projects not run on the GPU for this particular type machine?

Your advice will be appreciated!

So, I take it that all future contributions by the folks running v5 and v6 under OS/2 are null. Is this correct? Quite a number of machines fall under this exclusion, including some of mine.

That is correct. The binaries for that platform will need to be re-compiled with the new open-source v7 code.

Where can that source code be obtained from?

Except for a couple of minor details, we have decided on the new science database machine. We again want to thank the donors very much for making this purchase possible!

Awesome sounding machine... Hopefully it will end up in a server closet that has a working air conditioning system. [grin!]

In this business

Business?!

Last time I looked, this was a strictly volunteer effort. Everyone on this project, to the best of my knowledge, is unpaid for their output of time and energy.

Working in the project as the volunteer, I consider myself have the right to count on the attentive relation to efficiency of my work timely informing on an essence of problems and a course of their elimination.

Methinks you have no right whatsoever to be so arrogant.

Well, after due consideration, and the seeming lack of interest from the seti staff to resolve or even engage with contributor's about what is (or not!) happening, I'm ceasing my contribution to this project.

A sad attitude indeed. My four measly machines manage to keep busy by simply participating in one or more of the dozens of other available projects. The folks at SETI, IMHO, do a remarkable job with the markedly limited resources they've been saddled with.

You've stopped contributing - I've doubled my contribution and donation, albeit small.

Here as well; all of my machines are building up a stack of completed computations that are unable to upload... And the upload server (as of 20 seconds ago) was _still_ listed as "Disabled". Going on approximately 17 hours now.
Hopefully someone at BOINC will notice the anomaly soon.
