Hi Mark,

Trying to copy a utube kitty link - hope it works

I really like this - it just seems so French moody and melancholic, like one of those olf French language films from years ago.

Hope it works

Happy New Year everyone.

I just did a wee bicycle ride around town (9 miles) and there wasn't a shop open. Nice to get the fresh air though.

Hi Mark,

We spent Hogmanay round at friends, having a good meal and a lot of banter. Our friends have 3 cats (Calico's) and we took them round a big bag of "Dreamies" (cat treats) for their Christmas/New Year - the cats that is, our friends probably wouldn't like the taste :))

Well, to say I was crowded out by 3 excited cats, scrabbling to get at the bag of "Dreamies" is an understatement. I think I have just become their friend for life.

You and Lori have a good New Year - and the Kitties too.

A very sad day. Sir Patrick was a great communicator and astronomer. I remember watching "The Sky at Night" in the late 60s.

I saw him at the European Astrofest in London a few years ago. He held an audience of about 2000 spellbound for over an hour. There was a very warm, affectionate feeling in the Hall that day as we had all been brought up watching him and loving his programmes.

It is the end of an era and he will be much missed.

Got one right and one wrong. Another few kibbles for kitties and dogs.

My wee Kitty friend has just gone out again after two dinners, a handfull of "Dreamies" a two hour snooze and 20 minutes stretched out across me. She sure has me wrapped around her little claw. : ))

More Kibble for kitties - hadn't visited for about a week, so this was a timely reminder.

Cheers

Tom

PS The wee cat from along the road has just spent a quiet evening with me, she got all the attention she wanted + Bolognese sauce from my plate and some "dreamies" cat treats. So she was a happy kitty this evening.

Slightly off topic, what did the non-Brits out in SETI-land think of the Opening Ceremony?

I am British (a Scot) and I sometimes had to think hard to get the cultural connection or the "in joke". Although I enjoyed the ceremony, my pleasure was tinged with relief that we hadn't messed it up in some big way.

So .... what did you non-Brits think of the Opening ceremony? Interesting, confusing, boring, funny, quirkily British, or just a complete pain?

One last thing .... whether you think the Olympics are a waste or not, they are taking place, so we might as well enjoy them for what they are.

Regards to you all

Just heard on the BBC that Davy Jones has died. What a loss, and he was only young. I remember the Monkees from my childhood, with great fondness.

Best wishes to his family.

Sounds delicious. And probably fantastic with vanilla ice cream.

Hey Mark, Happy Birthday. I am only a year behind you and have reached the stage where I decrease a year in age for every year that passes (at least mentally) I guess that means when I reach 90 my mental age will have dropped to about 6. : ))

Oh by the way, what is razzelberry? I don't think we have that here in the UK.

Tom

It's a combination fruit berry pie....raspberry, blackberry, and maybe something else. Razzelberry is just the name they give it, not an actual berry.

I am 76 and shall be 77 in a few days. Girls I have loved in my youth are now old women. Mountains I have loved in my youth are still young and beautiful.
Tullio

LOL...but a few women I have loved in my youth are still young and beautiful too.....
And I turn 56 in a few months.

Yes, the Hills are always there and waiting. I can still do a few more before the knees go : )

As for women, I find it interesting that the girls I find attractive need to have a bit of maturity these days. I would have thought them elderly when I was 20 years old. Isn't nature wonderful.

What pees me off is that in my heart and my head I still think I'm 45, but when I try to live like that, my body says, Oi! d'ya mind, behave! Perhaps I'll try and negotiate a compromise deal to become a late 50's playboy ....

I think that age 35 must be about the most perfect age to be. Old enough to have some experience and maturity, but young enough that nothing much hurts when you use it. I can still run 5km (3,2 miles) in 26 minutes, but my knees hurt afterwards and that didn't happen 15 years ago. I work out in the gym regularly, but the old joints and muscles now tell me when I am overdoing it. My eyes aren't as keen as they were and I hate the idea of glasses (giving in to middle age). But, my hair is thinning and receding - gosh I don't like being in my 50's - wish I could turn the biological clock back about 10 years or so.

Still, I am fairly healthy and have lots to do, but being a playboy isn't one of them : )) (perhaps unlike Chris).

Have a great Christmas everyone.

This Goodsearch thingie seemed like a good idea to generate a little cash for SETI@HOME, so I signed up. A week or so later I seem to have raised 25 cents. Not a lot so far, but every little helps.

The search engine isn't bad either, so I have added it to my bookmark toolbar and will use it regularly.
