The reality is far worse than pop culture would have you believe. I know this first hand. Been there, done that and have the t-shirt & scars, and police record to prove it.

I prefer the 1% badge that I received here rather than the one I used to have. Change is a good thing.

Does the upgrade of boinc mean I need to reinstall the Lunatics apps ?

Thank y'all for the replies!

Normally I don't pay attention to what jobs are sent my rigs, I assume I get a fair share of the AP's.
I also as a rule leave some percentage of my processors available to service the GPU's as well as to do whatever windows thinks it needs tho I'm not sure if I have the percentage right and if it makes a difference if hyper threading is turned off.

I don't suppose there is a general rule of thumb on how many cores to be left to do the cuda servicing as different cards would have different needs depending on their speed etc.

I'm guessing I'll have to learn what all the task details mean and try to sort it from there when I have time.

Hi Y'all,

Is hyper threading a good thing for crunching, I mean other than how cool it is to see 24 or more cores
I'm sure this has been hashed over many times before, I do seem to remember something from years ago but for the life of me I cant remember what the consensus was.

You may have to abort all your tasks, uninstall Boinc, blow away your Boinc directory in the c:\program data directory, then reinstall. You'll have to change your folder view to be able to see hidden files and folders to see the program data dir.
Don't forget to copy down the correct config file to enable both GPU's to werk.

I'm hoping one of your rigs finds a sign, you deserve it!

HI Yall!

It's been a great month for me.
I've passed the 10 million mark and on my way to 11. I've achieved a RAC of 45k and still climbing.
Next month will mark my 6th year crunching, tho I had to take a 3 year break.
I have finaly made it into the top 10 of my beloved KWSN team, and will be in the top 5 soonly.

It's been a wonderful journey, y'all are just wonderful!!

Best to use offline defender before you run mbam & Sybot, then run combofix last, that will kill orphaned registry entries. Advanced System Care doesn't hurt in the virus murdering procedures

I had the exact same thing happen to me.
I ended up re-installing Boinc, setting my computing preferences to always use the GPU and 100% of my cpu's. I then rebooted and saw my GPU's, I then set my preferences back to what I wanted.

Oh, I also did all my Windows updates during that time.

Manually? I don't understand.
Also seems a waste to use all 8 cores just to feed the 850's.

Greetings & Salutations!

I have an older dual processor(5365's) computer that one processor runs way way too hot. I have popped it out, lapped it, changed heat sink/fan, and used good thermal paste but the problem persists.
The other CPU runs just fine.
What I'd like to be able to do is only use the "good" processor for crunching and let the "bad" processor feed the GPU's. It behaves OK when not crunching.

It's not worth my time or money to track down another matched set of CPU's for this machine but I'd like it to feed the GPU's until my new rigs arrive late next week.

Any ideas how to do this?

Danke in advance

Do we know if/when protected app will work with Vista/Win7?
Also, I run several Domain Controllers at home for experimental purposes. At this point in time I have to run boinc in a VM on those as it will not install on a DC. Any ideas when that may be remedied? I have no idea why they decided to change all that.

The odd thing is that I actually have a 260 and a 250, it appears something is mislabling or perhaps misidentifing my cards.

I also have see ppl talk about the new .DLLs ,I installed using the lunatics installer. Do I have them ?
