Your link pointed me to a ATI GPU app but I found this on same site http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=354 I take it that this is NV GPU app AP6_win_x86_SSE2_OpenCL_NV_r1761 Thanks Mike |

Panic Mode On (82) Server Problems?
(Message 1351334)

I think that it boils down to this Computers will stay crunching doing work with a full cache or Computers will be out of work the first day of the 3 day outage As far as bogging down servers the first day back would be busy but it would stabilize fairly quick Michael Miles |

I hope that we can get a full cache before they shut down April 1 or maybe it is a April fools joke about them shutting down. I don't think that is the case. Please let us fill up with at least 5 days worth because when they say 3 days down it could very well go into a week. HINT< HINT.. Full cache please.. LOL Michael Miles |

I am running Astropulse V6 by Lunatics on my CPU, using Linux. A VLAR is running on my Solaris Virtual Machine, the slowest of my systems. MB SETI is running on my HP laptop, also with Linux. Tullio Just curious about the heat that running apps on your laptop creates How hot does it get.... Michael Miles |

It is a long and winding discussion in this thread, but all you have to do is set or add the following DWORD to the registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters] "Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000003 Thank you smoothed right out Michael Miles |

I am sure I missed this tcp fix. Is it a tcp optimizer? Can you point this out Michael |

Everything was going smooth for downloads until yesterday. Now the only way I can get these shorties to come through is to suspend net activity and resume about three times / task. This is downright frustrating. Anyone else seeing a huge problem with downloading today Michael Miles |

Question. Why did the server problem 81 get locked. The last post showed an awesome machine. So I will comment here. WOW, WOW,WOW, I want one. I was wondering how he had 32 threads going out a 8 core. Did not expect two cpus. It just looks so clean. Now back to server problems. All I have been doing for 2 days is baby sitting this machine. Here is how it goes. Download 2 k and wait five minutes, stall, Shut down connection, restart connection. Download 2 k , stall. Repeat. I have tried to flush the dns and no joy there. What probably will fix this is a proxy. I have tried several but now I can seem to get one going. Does anyone have a good proxy address that I can use? Siv has given me some help but its the stalls that are beginning to give me more gray hair Thanks in advance. Michael Miles |

What is with the HTTP stall that has been going on all month. I was hoping it would be fixed by now but WU that come come down are stalling so in order for me to start up the download again I have to shut internet down and restart it and away it goes again for about three tasks and then I have to do it all over again. I was using a proxy which eliminated this problem but I cant find a proxy that works any more. Michael Miles |

They always do this now. I have seen this on every single outage that they plan for upgrades. They will stop allowing their volunteers to work for them. I have been for a while and I have done quite a bit of work and I have never seen outages like this. It used to be they would let us fill right up for a planned outage. Now they shut down 2 days before they plan on it. The servers now showing no splitters are up so no work at all. I have spent my entire morning pressing retry just to get my uploads in and I have still only got 20 uploaded. I have seen more people quit over these issues. These are people who have invested a lot of money building crunching machines and now they sit dormant. The other project especially medical ones are asking us to crunch for them. These are corporations who make huge money on our ability to crunch huge amounts of data. We have built the fastest computer on the planet and they want to take advantage of that. The only project that I will support is Seti but it is now becoming more of a pain in the butt just to volunteer for them |

It would be nice to get some work before they shut down. With the limit of 200 that will give my meager system work for one 12 hour period. Last night everything was down and now that there is a planned outage nobody gets work. All servers are now down. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results each time. Oh, please, oh, please allow us to crunch for you seti Michael Miles |

I made some tweaks on the scheduling server to help reduce the connection drops. Sorry about all the connection headaches! Of course, we're still hitting our bandwidth limit for downloads, thus really just kicking the problem down the street a bit... But at least you can report more easily now. - Matt I have noticed the improvement already Thank you very much Matt Michael Miles The Assimilators |

I am finding even the proxy bypass is not fixing this connection problem. OR IS IT A PROBLEM. I have noticed a pattern here and no matter if I have my connection on or off it will not get new tasks until the 200 that I am allowed to have are finished or near finishing. I leave my connection on and they all upload but waiting to report until I come to about 80% finished then the reporting will happen and I will get new tasks. The cycle repeats over and over again. This could very well be intentional. I really don't want to crunch for other Medical type projects as I firmly believe Corporations are taking advantage of this computing power to further their own research. I don't trust Corporations or Governments. I really would hope that the boys in the computing room at Berkeley would give us information on what is going on. Separating AP from Multibeam would be a great place to start fixing this problem |

I do believe you are running hot. When the gpu is running hot everything else heats up. Your intel cpu should handle it but the board may not. Also how much power is on the PSU. I had this problem quite a bit with old drivers and under powered PSU. If it bsod in seconds then power is probably a thing to really look at. Have you the latest drivers in as well? Michael Miles |

MSattler says The limits have not accomplished much.....current situation proves that. I could not agree more. The one thing the limits have done is piss every one off and a lot have again gone to other projects. I will say it again even though the last time I said it I got really bad reactions. As a temp measure suspend new accounts until this major problem gets ironed out. I understand what that means but something has to break other than our patience and the servers. Don't worry though. Piss enough people off and the membership list will go down all by itself and that is not the way to find other life forms in our Multiverses If the limits where raised up to normal then we would not have to contact the servers so much. As it is now with just my machine 2 times a day I have fill my cache of 200 If we got to have our 10 day cache then we would only need to contact the servers once or twice a week That makes sense to me but what do I know Michael Miles |
