What I'd Really Like
(Message 1371956)

Since the task was timed out on that machine and the machine has not made contact since Feb, it probably will not hurt to go ahead and retire it. But, I may be mistaken. You can't delete a host from the database as long as there are tasks associated with it. Gruß, Gundolf |

I would like advice that pertains to what I wrote not a shopping list of bs that showed you did not read all I wrote. Obviously, you didn't read the answer completely either. In point seven: 7. You set BOINC to run based on preferences, and you set that BOINC needs to suspend when another non-BOINC program takes up a certain amount of CPU (Suspend work when non-BOINC CPU usage is above X%). At this time, all tasks are suspended. Aborting work will not yield new downloads, since BOINC is suspended. "Suspend work when non-BOINC CPU usage is above X%" is the preference that controls the "CPU is busy" message. So, just set that value to a higher percentage (or zero) in your preferences and your tasks will no longer be suspended with that message. No restarting or aborting necessary. Gruß, Gundolf |

2. Set No New Tasks and abort all work in cache, then switch to the new OS. That should read: 2. Set No New Tasks and abort & report all work in cache, then switch to the new OS. |

This thread seems to cover the same subject, but I'm not sure there's a solution in it (I only skimmed through it). Gruß, Gundolf |

Did you find the reason in the meantime? If not, it's an empty file whose name indicates its purpose. Just delete it; and check the access rights of the BOINC user, perhaps it hasn't sufficient rights to delete the file. Gruß, Gundolf |

So, now it's AP and PFB WUs then, eh? I'd say it's still AP and MB WUs. The MB WUs are just split in a new (better) way. Gruß, Gundolf |

Well, as j mercer already mentioned in the "Mystery Kitchen Tool three" thread, we had that same picture as the very first challenge in that same thread. Solution found by Bill Walker in Message 1342043 - Posted: 1 Mar 2013, 15:47:06 UTC. Gruß, Gundolf |

I'm currently experiencing exasperation with BOINC Stats and their apparent difficulty in recognizing a Team's member in one phase of their statistics and not in another phase. As you can see, I'm listed as an XtremeSystems Team member for Asteroids here... http://boincstats.com/en/stats/134/user/list/0/0/275/0, but not here... http://boincstats.com/signature/-1/user/2604222/sig.png. Why they can't cross reference their database, I do not know. That's because you suffer from a "split CPID" (as I told you at the Einstein@home forum). There are (at least) two Gandalf_the_Grey at BOINCstats, namely 2604222 (CPID 37df8b33c5577882180d0f10d06d71dd) and 2650773 (CPID 2b84d557ae5f0fdcf370ae1538925315, which is the one connected to Asteroids@home). Only women are allowed to roll their "R's" around here :-)) That's difficult because of the different spellings of the derrière on both sides of the pond. (TBH, I only got it when pondering the last post ;-) Gruß, Gundolf |

It's done during installation. On the third screen of the BOINC installer, select advanced mode and enter the desired path. Gruß, Gundolf |

You have to discern between "resends of lost tasks" and resends because a task wasn't completed successfully (time out or error). Gruß, Gundolf |

It appears the nVidia preferences are broken. Did you check that you set the preferences in the same venue (default, home, work, school) your host is attached to? Gruß, Gundolf |

Maybe we shouldn't wait on him? From what I've learned in school (okay, that's been some time) you can't wait on someone who isn't there, you'll have to wait for him to arrive first. ;-) Gruß, Besserwisser |
