I have some sad news. David Streeter's prognosis is not very good right now. I don't have all the details but the person who is caring for his affairs says that he probably doesn't have much time left. He isn't able to do much besides lying in bed and watching television. He is being fed by tube.

You can get some details on his Facebook page, and you can contact the friend who is caring for his affairs.

I plan to watch SUPERPOWER soon. It's a documentary by Sean Penn. "Sean Penn sets out to make a lighthearted film about President Zelensky, but ends up with a front-row seat to the early days of Ukraine’s war with Russia."

It's available on Paramount+ now.

Ultra-processed food linked to higher risk of depression, research finds

US study finds association between large amounts of ultra-processed food, especially artificial sweeteners, and depression

“These findings suggest that greater ultra-processed foods intake, particularly artificial sweeteners and artificially sweetened beverages, is associated with increased risk of depression,” the authors concluded.

“Experimental studies have shown that artificial sweeteners may trigger the transmission of particular signaling molecules in the brain that are important for mood.”

Figures. :-( I'm depressed and have diabetes which means any sweeteners I use are artificial. I use saccharine in my coffee and in my cereal. (I cheat and consume real sugar sometimes.)

Swamp Story by Dave Barry.

Jesse Braddock is trapped in a tiny cabin deep in the Everglades with her infant daughter and her ex-boyfriend, a wannabe reality TV star who turned out to be a lot prettier on the outside than on the inside. Broke and desperate for a way out, Jesse stumbles across a long-lost treasure, which could solve all her problems—if she can figure out how to keep it. The problem is, some very bad men are also looking for the treasure, and they know Jesse has it.

Meanwhile, Ken Bortle of Bortle Brothers Bait and Beer has hatched a scheme to lure tourists to his failing store by making viral videos of the “Everglades Melon Monster.” The Monster is in fact an unemployed alcoholic newspaperman named Phil wearing a Dora the Explorer costume head. Incredibly, this plan actually works, inspiring a horde of TikTokers to swarm into the swamp in search of the monster at the same time villains are on the hunt for Jesse’s treasure. Amid this mayhem, a presidential hopeful arrives in the Everglades to start his campaign. Needless to say, it does not go as planned. In fact, nothing in this story goes as planned. This is, after all, Florida.

Do you all know that David Streeter is in the hospital? He was hurt on/about July 7. That's all I know. Dave's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/walt.delcalle

This was on his Facebook page:
For those who are unaware, David had a serious fall and fractured several vertebrae in his neck. He underwent emergency surgery last night with mixed results. He is currently heavily sedated and in ICU at Loyola Medical Center in critical but stable condition. Currently once he improves he is scheduled to have additional surgery early next week. I, Gary Smith , was asked to be point of contact by David prior to his surgery. If you have any questions or otherwise please reach out to me directly as I don't have access to David's FB account from home.

There have been few updates posted.

July 18: David is currently still sedated and he remains in ICU following his third surgery yesterday. He is stable and his overall vital signs are okay. There is still no determination of his long term recovery, currently he only has limited movement in one arm. They are likely going to try to reduce the sedatives over the few days. He is still unable to speak. If and when the situation changes I will update again.

July 30: Good morning. David remains in ICU at Loyola. They are hoping to move him to a LTACH sometime this week if possible. Currently he is more awake and can answer some simple questions by nodding/shaking his head. I will update again as the situation changes.

Anyone wants rabbits? Bugs' invasion.

A Florida suburb is facing an adorable invasion of exotic rabbits after a breeder let them loose and they started multiplying ... like rabbits.

We have plenty of the normal type around here if anyone wants those as well.

Cheers.

Why in the world did the breeder "let them loose"? If it was intentional, then that person should burn in hell. Well, maybe not burn in hell, but certainly be singed by the flames.

Obviously they havn't been looking around for them at the top of the hill from there.

Sightings of critically endangered regent honeyeater in NSW give conservationists hope.

Every season since I moved here these make a racket fighting over rights on my Chinese Creeper Vine.

Cheers.

Perhaps you should contact "them" and tell them about all the honeyeaters around your house.

I decided to check out the new series "Silo" on Apple+. I was not disappointed. I was only unhappy that I have to wait until Friday for the next episode. I can't figure out from Wikipedia how many episodes there will be. Friday's will be number eight. When googled, I see something that says 10 episodes in the "first season."

"In a dystopian future where a community exists in a giant silo that extends hundreds of stories underground, 10,000 people live in a society bound by regulations they believe are meant to protect them."

It's based on the Wool series of novels by author Hugh Howey.

I highly recommend it.

Food for thought. Do you want to start a food diary?
I need one for myself too. Just to keep an idea of what is going in me. Helps with deciding if chewing on something is a good thing. I need to pick up the ink pen and start writing mine again. It helps just to write the basics down. Like the time and what it was you ate. Example: breakfast, lunch, snacks, and if you (me) got stupid and went back for thirds. Mainly I just use it for time remembering.

I tried that. And tried it again. I'm not good at all at keeping up with that sort of thing. I agree, though, that it is an excellent idea.

Congratulations Suzie-Q on your upcoming 70'th trip on earth around the sun.

May you have many more trips around the sun,

Looking over your Amazon wishlist, some one has a liking for sweets and chocolate.

To paraphrase Homer Simpson: "MMMM.... Chocolate." (drooing all over the place)

May your wishlist come true.

Most, if not all, of those candies contain alcohol. :-D
