Spanish debt now risen to 100% of GDP so will not be able to grow GDP enough to pay it down. All because of the Euro, five countries down another 20 odd surely to follow unless the EU breaks up. Lets hope the UK starts the break up by voting out. |

It will resist this vehemently, for out goes the common agricultural policy and the heavy farming subsidies it's farmers rely on to survive. France would have to modernise it's farming industry...now there lies it's biggest problem. Most enlightening.... |

Posted 17 Jun 2016 by Michael John Hind Post: Only if the UK leaves will the EU ever reform. It's not just Brussels that has to be overcome but both France and Germany too. The Franco/German pact that the stability of Europe is built on is a big stumbling block. France and Germany will not want their overall autonomy watered down for this may induce a feeling of insecurity. I can never see the EU achieving it's overall objective of unification leading to a United States of Europe. I feel the whole economics situation throughout the whole EU stops this ever being achievable. The EU needs to unwind itself, remove the central policy making body in Brussels and reform under the Common Market principles, yes, the Euro must be disbanded, the biggest millstone around the EU's neck. Will France ever accept going back to just a European Common Market ? It will resist this vehemently, for out goes the common agricultural policy and the heavy farming subsidies it's farmers rely on to survive. France would have to modernise it's farming industry...now there lies it's biggest problem. If the UK leaves both France & Germany may well then have to capitulate and come up with a new plan for the stability of Europe, or just a new joint plan for themselves. |

Britain first, everyone else second, it's what the general public would expect under the circumstances. |

Britons' Choice
(Message 1796356)
Posted 15 Jun 2016 by Michael John Hind Post: When Britain joined the Common Market in 1973, the EU (as it is now) produced 38% of the world’s goods and services – 38% of global GDP. In 1993, when the EU formally began, it produced just under 25%. Today the EU produces just 17% and is still declining. It is just not cost effective to tie our selves up to a declining EU the growth potential is just not there yet our costs to the EU continually keep rising. If your happy with marg' on your bread then vote to stay but if you want butter then vote to leave. We have to switch out from the declining EU and switch back in to the growing rest of the world. We can only do this by taking back control of all our legislation and policies decisions pertaining to business...surely the figures above prove that economically the EU is a lame duck and getting lamer by the year. |

Posted 14 Jun 2016 by Michael John Hind Post: But then, I do admit to some level of bias in this. I also support the breakup of the USA (peacefully, at the ballot box) into a number of smaller, less powerful Nations as well. In my opinion, there is such a thing as one Nation becoming (for want of a better term) 'too big'. I agree with you here regarding the EU 'KW' as will all the BREXIT brigade too. I've read in the past about some US States wanting independence, is it possible, can it be made to work. Perhaps some time down the line we will be debating this issue here...going to be an interesting one. |

Posted 14 Jun 2016 by Michael John Hind Post: Really? How do you arrive at that? Yes, Marmite is still an approved product since it does not challenge anything similar that Germany produces. Er' Dyson Group Plc comes to mind here, good old Corporate Europe Observatory working to protect the interests of the Germany manufacturing industry. Marmite contains a lot of salt so eating too much of it can be considered a health hazard. |
