I live in the European Union.

Good for you!

Do you find it as much of a joke as the rest of us 700 million?

Hope your enjoying spending Great Britain's £40 million pounds every day.

Anyway, Sutaru the fine was handed down by one of the EU's many self serving councils. They are who I was calling the "not very nice".

The fine is a joke, the judgement is based on the fact that Intel were able to offer discounts and incentives to use their products. Any company in a position to do so, does the same.

The fine is from the European Union madmac, new version of the EEC, just a bigger bunch of buttholes.

The fine is supposedly for the use of monopolistic advertising and selling campaigns that have stopped AMD from selling it's products.

How advertising can be classed as an abuse of a monopoly god only knows. I have never seen an AMD advert.

This is just as stupid as the fine they imposed on Microsoft.

Ned, the problem isn't the fact that work isn't always forthcoming, as has already pointed out, the guys have never made that promise.

But the system CAN'T cope with the current number of users. Asking for more users at a time when the servers seem to be more fragile than ever isn't the smartest thing to do. Over the past month Seti has been in the worst state I have seen since I joined.

We are always hearing about the lack of funds, that the project is struggling to keep going. Have they ever considered actually scaling things back a little and running the project within budget instead of trying to stretch things to the points of breaking.

As for concentrating on NTPCKr for the anniversary. Have you heard anything? I sure as hell haven't. Christ there isn't even anything on the front page of this website.

Now you've heard

Skildude, please don't take offence, but I think you missed the point. I wasn't referring to not having heard anything on here. I was meaning away from here.

There hasn't been a single mention of it anywhere in the UK, and I doubt for that matter anywhere else in the world. Let's be honest given the current financial crisis, now coupled with the sneezing pig end of the world stories, no on outside of these forums is going to give two hoots about Seti.

To quote Google when searching :-

"Your search - Seti 10th Anniversary - did not match any documents."

Also all the talk about camping and hiking trips and music gigs and concentrating on incidentals instead of fixing the outage problems and preventing their ocurrence are being construed by many as a lack of caring about the project, and if the project doesn't care, then why should we?

Matt is allowed a life you know.

Are you going to pay for him to work full time on the project?

I've greatly reduced my contribution due to the lack of Mac OS support, the system seemingly going into a state of meltown.

I can understand concentrating on NTPCKr, but if the system is unable to cope with what the project currently has running. How is it going to cope running another piece of software in real time?

I think the last thing they should be saying is they need more users.

The system can't cope as it is.

Cuda cards still aren't seen by Boinc. And given Matt's recent post in Technical news, we can wait another couple of months as all the efforts are going into KNITPICKER.

If I remember correctly Crunch3r made both Linux and Mac OSX applications? If they were made from the same source files, then I would have thought that the Linux applications would also be slower than the Windows applications.

On my Quad, the MB (AK v8) is faster under Linux x64 (Ubuntu 8.04) compared to Windows XP x64.

The bit you missed out - MAC OSX!

It is just a THOUGHT that Linux would also be slower than Windows.

Raistmer, when I thought about doing AstroPulse on it's own. The Windows version is the faster one of the three out there. The MB app is also substantially faster for Windows.

Compared to the versions for Mac OSX, AP is 30% or more faster on Windows, whilst the MB application is approximately 25% faster under Windows.

Ned, I think the thing that bothers people, is that there has been o change to the application and there was no announcement from the team.

Urs that credit change made a difference of 15 - 20 per cent. This is a new drop in the credit awarded.

Saturu, what are complaining about Milkyway for? The GPU app was developed and now Travis is working on Apps for Cuda for Windows, Linux and MAC OS X. Sheds a new light on things really.

It's been 3.5 months since the Windows version was released and we've heard nothing.

Just wondering if any of you guys in the know can shed some light on this?

Or is this going to be the same as official Mac Astropulse support?

So if it takes a week to get Thumper and everything else back up to speed, it'll be two before there is a steady work flow of units once again. Network traffic will be hell the moment it's brought back on line.

No biggie, just have to find something else to crunch.
