Seems Google Strong Arming didn't work...
(Message 1296845)
Posted 19 Oct 2012 by hiamps Post: Too funny that googles profits are down. Seems their strong-arm tactics didn't work. We haven't had our google adds running for 4 or 5 months now because I can not update my payment info with Internet Explorer or by phone! They told me I had to download some other browser and I told them they were crazy....Some salesman from Google keeps calling telling me Microsoft made it so their browser wouldn't work on Google Account page yet every single link works except the UPDATE PAYMENT INFO. I guess Google is admitting that Microsoft is that much smarter and that google can't fix a link.... |

Old boinc or new version?
(Message 1177792)
Posted 13 Dec 2011 by hiamps Post: Just wondering which version most are using? Just had to switch back to 6.10.58 as the newest one wouldn't keep enough work going. Changed Saturday night and finally my cruncher has been busy. Was playing with buttons non-stop just to keep a little work but now I have had work non-stop since changing back to the old version. Anyone else notice the same thing? |

Color of law?
(Message 1161504)
Posted 12 Oct 2011 by hiamps Post: Just curious since we seem to have a lot of smart people here... Recently an incident happened on my property when my step daughter and her ex while exchanging kids. It got a bit ugly and the cops had to come. During the incidence my step son grabbed the keys of his ex (my Store Manager)and supposedly threatened the other father with a baseball bat. He put the truck back and after both men were arrested and things were winding down a police officer came to my store where Managers truck was parked and said he was impounding the vehicle. I got my Manager and we tried to explain to the cop that it was not his truck to take and that he could search the truck with her permission. He didn't want to hear anything and threatened us with Obstruction. Then his buddy called me aside and Made me stand there and listen to his lecture. Since the Police were being LETTER of the law I decided I would hold them to their own standards. Didn't know where of how to complain so I called the Police Cheif, but got his assistant. While I was telling him what happened he threatened me with SLANDER which promptly had me backing out of that call. The poplice officer who detained me for the lecture has since told the girls at my coffee stand about the incidence which blows my mind. I had complained about that and told the assintant cheif her name, ne never asked her but this morning a couple windows were broken out of her truck...I am pretty sure it is a coincidence but am writing it here in case more things happen to her. I feel screwed, and will now go to the City Council meeting trying to push for a fair way to report Police Abuse... Am I wrong for the way I feel. BTW...My manager and I had nothing to do with the incident or the Police until they came to my store to take her truck. The only relationship between the batboy and her are 2 kids. |

What will really happen when the US Defaults?
(Message 1132562)
Posted 27 Jul 2011 by hiamps Post: Hey Gary, why don't we just stop paying all taxes alltogether??? I pay way more than most and if I shouldn't get ANYTHING at all like you seem to suggest why bother? With all this Politics as usual it has probably already cost the American tax payers big time...When we lose our 3 star credit rating and become a second rate Country I guess that will be worth it to you...As long as No One gets a thing that will be OK. I see you don't care if our Military becomes second rate...My guess not a Vet. There are a hell of a lot of things that need fixing especially all the Huge Tax Breaks most big companies get but haven't noticed you talking about that much....Wonder which side of the fence you sit? Just for a BREIF second sit in the middle. |

CO2 Detector SCAM....
(Message 1132187)
Posted 26 Jul 2011 by hiamps Post: The point being...We don't need a law to require Carbon Monoxide detectors unless you live in a house that has a high probability or at least some kind of source. The commercials are scare tactics like the US always uses and just like the boy that cried Wolf, the tactics will eventually quit working...You can only scare the Sheeple so long before they become complacent. |

CO2 Detector SCAM....
(Message 1130397)
Posted 21 Jul 2011 by hiamps Post: Watching all the commercials for CO2 detectors are driving me crazy and scaring people for absolutely no reason. My brother and I went on a service call yesterday to a really nice old lady. She has Electric utilities and swears she NEVER BBQ's in the house yet wanted us to install 5 CO2 detectors that Home Depot sold here. We told her to take them back and get her money back as they would do nothing at all in her house except beep when the battery gets old. Why is it not mentioned in any of the Scare Commercials that they are only needed if you have gas or some other source of CO2???They will sell Millions of these things to people that have absolutely no need of them out of Fear and Ignorance. WoW, so the biggest source some claim is breathing????? Give me a break, unless you live in a sealed aquarium...then this... "Other nonliving sources of the gas may include space heaters, clothes dryers, stoves, or any other unvented gas-burning appliance. The gas may also infiltrate the home from an outdoor source, in which case the cause is most likely to be a large industrial area or any processes which involve the burning of fossil fuels." This is really a scare tactic to sell a bunch of useless detectors, maybe the Government should do something that will actually help someone... Mythbusters already busted the myth of someone farting to much.... |

Are Galaxies Polarized?
(Message 1127798)
Posted 15 Jul 2011 by hiamps Post: If each Galaxy has it's own Polariztion then they would seperate faster and faster without dark matter...just a thought. EDIT: I don't know if Galaxies put out giant magnetic fields like I have seen images of Earths. If they do they must extend a long long ways. Over time many galaxies would have "Bounced" off other galaxies fields and some would move faster some one way some another. Seems it would explain a whole lot a Woman on "Through the Wormhole" was trying to explain about dark energy.... |

Wow.....Do you actually believe what you wrote????????After reading this I find it hard to believe that you don't equate people wasting power running seti should be taken out on thin ice....WOW |

Posted 14 Jul 2011 by hiamps Post: As far as LED's "needs work".. there has been a ton of work already done, including adjusting spectrum of emissions and light output. Longevity is extremely long, electricity consumption much lower. But of course some I believe they are pushing CFL's because they make good bank on them and LED's as long as governments and the like buy them they can get premium price. It is all about making money. I want a light that actually lights up as soon as I turn on the switch. Waiting a minute or two for the bathroom to light up sucks! If it is about saving power...Well I bet we could all come up with a list that would fit. Sitting at a Red light with no one coming the other way should be illegal, it is a waste and pollutes your air. |

I would like to say something good about a store...
(Message 1127417)
Posted 14 Jul 2011 by hiamps Post: Seems when we get wronged we tell everyone...I got righted...LOL I live in Washington State and saw a Portable Heat Pump I wanted and saw that Lowes had it for $100 less than Sears or Walmart but they only sell that unit in the Central and East coast for some reason. So when I put my zip code in to check stock it disappeared and was not even listed. I called their online help and the guy took my number and said he would check into it. He called and told me it wasn't offered in my area and that it couldn't even be special ordered but he had checked and a store in Baytown Texas had extras and was willing to ship it to me. They sent it out that day UPS and it came a few days later in a few pieces...I was bummed and called Baytown Lowes and they said not to worry that they would have UPS pick it up the next day and they would send another that day on a pallet by freight. It came today in Perfect shape is awesome and for some reason they gave me more discounts and I saved over $150.00 with shipping.....I take back any bad thing I ever said about Lowes and Baytown Texas is lucky to have a store like theirs! |
