1) Questions and Answers : Preferences : BOINC Manager: " "Receiving Current Status" . . . NOT (Message 1716735)

Hello,

I have been a client of Seti@home for a long while now and I am with Team Carl Sagan and I live in the Pacific NW. My partner and I just recently purchased a new Mac Pro (OS X Yosemite V. 10.10.4m with 12 processors) and I am back on line crunching away at homework. Or am I?

Lately there has been a flag on my BOINC manager window stating: "Receiving Current Status" and this is ALL that it is said in weeks now, and I am wondering what exactly has gone wrong. The computer has not been able to do any work. The sessions last for days and then it starts up again, almost like magic. I have not tweaked any preferences too much and I think that everything is running as usual, yet no work appears in the window. Would you have any idea as to what is going on?

Thank you,
Batai

Please help,

I have had this SETI@home account since 2006 and I now want to change my email account in preferences,

although the program continues to say that "there is an account with that email address." I know this because I changed it, although the program keeps posting my old email address as default. wth? Can anyone help me please? I have a Mac Pro V. 10.6.8.

Thank you,
Batai

I do not enjoy the same benefits as other "team members" do. That is my argument.

Thanks,

No, I was not aware of that possibility. Here's where I remove all doubt. How does one go about that task? I would love to have my old credits back.

Best,

Thank you (genuinely) for the 411. My problem is that I too quick to push a button thinking its private as opposed to public. These forums tend to confuse me sometimes. So, this "public play" is not all what is may seem to be on the surface. Besides the admin of the group will not respond to my querries. Thank you anyways though. I do appreciate it.

Best,
Batai

Dear James,

Seeing as you may consider me a 'simpleton' by a mere few groupings of 1's and 0's, I'll blow this one off and give you a free get-out-of-jail card for the time being. Maybe you can summarize from my previous email that I was merely setting up the argument that I am INDEED a full-fledged member of SETI.<----<<< That's a period. That's all. Nothing more needs to be said.

FYI because Team Carl Sagan cannot find my SETI profile, you know the same one that states my User ID: 8384200, the same one that states my Recent average credit: 872.50, the same one that states my Total credit: 766,505, my Account keys, etc., etc.,
I cannot post new topics in the clubs forum.
I cannot reply to topics in the forum.
I cannot edit your posts in the forum
I cannot delete posts in the forum.
I cannot vote in polls in the forum.

The board may show that I am a member of Team Sagan, albeit I do not enjoy any of the benefits such as team forums, peer communications, and the personal member page as others have, all because they say,"We are sorry but we can not find you as being a registered member of SETI@Home."

As for not being a "team player," I am really perplexed as I hardly know you and would not assume anything about whether or not you yourself are a 'team player.' So, what's the rush to judgment all about here? Did I pi$$ in your beer or something? I did my service to my county honorably as a Vietnam-era veteran. I presently hold two degrees. I have done ten marathons to date without once quiting, and I am almost fluent in differing dialects of Spanish. I can also split the stream of a piss ant at ≈1000' (symbolically). Each one of these require assistance (i.e. collaboration) with at least one other person. So, please go ahead and enlighten me about 'pressing buttons' and team playing.

Regards,
Batai

As one of the original members of SETI, that is before they decided to put in the BOINC system, I had accrued a nice little nest egg of points which I lost in the change over to BOINC since the turn of the century, and since 2006 when I gave SETI another chance and started over again I have accrued over 700 xxx xxx credits. At one point last week before I combined my two pages I have over 900 xxx xxx credits.

As a writer I am pretty much at my wits end and soon will be making a decision about continuing with SETI, in which case if I do decide to sever any and all connections I will most assuredly continue to write, and do I love writing.

In my continuing efforts to apply to Team Carl Sagan my pleas are being ignored so I would suggest that Mr. Anderson starts cleaning house. tic ... tic ... tic ...

Sincerly,
Batai
9) Questions and Answers : Macintosh : HELP: Alloted computer usage (Message 919331)

To Whom it May Concern:

As an artist I tend to not understand a lot of computer tech lingo, however I did pass Finite math and the Boinc user computer manager's explanation of Total Disc Usage is pretty well understood:

Total Disk Usage

(black circle) used by BOINC. 37.08 MB
(Gray circle) free, available to BOINC 199.96 GB
(white circle) free, not abailable to BOINC 85.68 GB
(Lt. Gray circle) used by other programs: 179.76 GB

I am confused and I would just like to know what I did wrong in the computer settings or Prefs file that you are not taking advantage of the almost two-thirds of my computer memory that I initially alloted you. Seti@home is the only project I have going on this computer at the time, so there should be no problem.

I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this by going through the settings with me on the phone or chat.

best,
Allan
