This is for any DISH Network customer whom has made use of the DISH Network OTA Adapter....

Can ANY Digital OTA Antenna work with the DISH Network OTA Adapter for the Hopper3, (or Hopper2/Hopper1/Wally),
or do I need a specific Digital OTA Antenna?

I've just purchased the DISH Network OTA Adapter, and, now, am in the market for an EXCELLENT receiving Digital Antenna.
I live in an area SURROUNDED by hills, in the SF East Bay. (Tri-Valley area. (San Ramon, Danville, Alamo....)) Due to the recent
hiccup between MeTV, (National Channel 247 on DISH), and DISH Network, we NO LONGER are receiving MeTV.

MeTV CAN be had locally, OTA with a decent to excellent Digital OTA Antenna.... However; I want to make sure that my Digital
OTA Antenna choice WILL ACTUALLY work with the DISH Network OTA Adapter for the Hopper3 that we have.

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated. :-)

NOTE: Local MeTV in my area is via KTLN Channel 68.2 HD. I'm currently unsure if my 'HILLY' area will be able to pick up KTLN
even with an EXCELLENT Digital OTA Antenna, BUT I'm willing to try.

Carlos or TL. How much snow has been falling lately around you?

Admiral,

No snow down here in the SF East Bay area, in the city of Danville. Perhaps Carlos may have a
different report, as he's farther North than I.

[EDIT:]

HOWEVER; I do recall hearing that Mount Diablo, (which is tall enough), in Danville DID get some snow at the top of the mountain.

Hey Timelord. Thought I posted that I was over the bug about 2 weeks ago. I was over in Concord yesterday. Let me know when you are up to grabbing lunch. I am glad to see your recovery progressing. Maybe you can help me with my local network someday. I have an Xfinity 1T plan but it requires that I use their cable router. Works fine for coverage of my house but I have to have a hard wire out to my docks. I had a mesh system but they don't allow it with the 1 Terabyte plan. I think they throttle streaming services.
But the priority is your health. Get yourself back to regular marathon runs soon.

2-26-2023 at 5:53 PM - PST

Carlos,

I'm glad you're better and successfully kicked the bug out. Being sick is NO fun! I'd love to have a look at your Network to see
what improvements can be made. Yes, COMCAST/XFINITY requires use of their COMCAST Modem; you CAN buy one, but that
means YOU are responsible to Upgrade the unit and keep it in spec with COMCAST. IF you 'rent' a COMCAST Modem, THEY
are responsible to keep the equipment up to date. So, when a MAJOR firmware/software situation arises that requires Hardware
Change-outs, THEY, (under contract), are responsible to Update your Modem.

In contrary fashion, AT&T DOES NOT let you own equipment, so NO 3rd Party Gateways exist for U-Verse consumption.

The COMCAST Modem has a built-in router, BUT, you CAN ADD your own Personal Router behind theirs. You CAN also do the same
with AT&T Gateways. (Hence, how our MESH Network functions connected to the Gateway.... The Parent Node becomes the Personal
Router, behind the U-Verse Gateway.) With Personal Routers, one CAN set PREFERRED DNS Entries, like "OpenDNS". The U-Verse Gateway
DOES NOT allow this programmability. Once Preferred DNS Entries are set on a Personal Router, ALL DEVICES connected to that Router
utilize those DNS Entries. So, with OpenDNS, ALL Devices make use of OpenDNS Servers.

I was unaware; however, that COMCAST/XFINITY limits/refuses MESH Network connections to their Terabyte Broadband Routers. (You did mean
Terabyte, right? We're still at 50Mb Broadband, and AT&T Fiber is Gigabit, NOT Terabyte.)

While you mention that COMCAST/XFINITY DOES throttle Streaming Services; I think you, alone, would find it difficult to Stream ENOUGH material
to reach that Throttle Limit. You'd have to Stream LOTS of music over Apple Music, iTunes, or whatever Music App you utilize, AND Stream A TON
of movies over Prime, Paramount+, Disney+ or whatever Streaming Services you utilize.

With such limitations on MESH with COMCAST/XFINITY, I would be hesitant to even think about lesser technologies like 'Range Extenders' as these
are NOT the same functionality as MESH and have consequences to their usage.

As to lunch, I'm completely open to any lunch plans you'd like to set. I'm already driving myself around. Getting INTO the car is EASIER than getting
OUT of the car. (The right knee isn't bending fully, yet.)

Thanks, guys! :-)

Eczema seepage has slowed almost to a standstill, now. So, just a matter of time, and treatment with Cera-Ve
lotion to lubricate and hydrate the skin to better promote the healing process.

Had to take a few of the pain pills, today; however. Pain was more severe today. :-( I'm still doing my leg
exercises to strengthen the new knee joint and leg. Now that the eczema is under control, I'm thinking that
about Tuesday or Wednesday for making an appointment with mom's pedicurist. Right now, I cannot, yet,
bend the knee enough to cut my toenails. So, a pedicure is called for. (Even my left leg is still in need of more
progress to allow me to cut that leg's toenails....) Mom's pedicurist charges $30 for a pedicure, plus Tip. I give
her $5 for Tip, it's all I have available for Tip money.

Got my haircut recently, too, and that expense is $42 with Tip. Then there's my hairy ears that need waxing
every 6 weeks; with an eyebrow trim, this comes to $46 every 6 weeks. All this keeps me looking 'presentable'.

Even on a tight budget like mine, I make sure I can manage the 'necessities' of being civilized - MOSTLY! ;-)

I've managed, in the last four years, to get myself mostly out of credit card debt. This was my GREATEST
challenge! I'm down to $66 left for an External USB Drive I recently purchased to attach to the DISH Network's
Hopper3 DVR connected by a 10-Port Powered USB Hub. I purchased the Western Digital Black 'Gaming' USB
Drive. It's rounded up and sold as a 5TB Model, BUT in reality, it's a 4.6TB unit. It is the latest USB 3/3.1/3.2 Speed
Drive; and apparently due to various different ratings, and NO real Standard, yet, it's anyone's 'best guess' as to
the actual 'Style'. It has a proprietary Micro USB Port at the Drive and comes with a Cable for it that ports out to
USB 3.0 A Type to connect to the USB Hub. The Hub is USB 3.0, and the second Port on the back of the Hopper3
is USB 3.0. So the Drive yields MAXIMUM USB 3.0 Speeds for Read/Write Transfer to/from the Hopper3.

With my new acquisition, I've managed to load up the drive with 169 Episodes of classic/original MacGyver,
Various Trek Episodes, the Twilight Movie Saga, the Hunger Games Movie Saga, the Alien Movie Saga with
Alien vs Predator, and recently the Rocky Movie Saga. There's MUCH more, too much to list here, and I won't
bore everyone here with all the titles I now have on the External Drive; but suffice to say that I'm down to
about 3.7TB Free on the Drive and the Hopper3 firmware/software claims I'm only using 19% of the Drive Space.
This is A HUGE improvement to the more limited Internal Hopper3 Drive which is roughly 2TB of usable Space,
and with all that I've mentioned, plus some of my parents' stuff, we were up to 84% used space on the Internal
Drive. Shifting my stuff to the External now has the Internal Drive down to a more manageable 22% Used Space.

Our original U-Verse TV System COULD NOT make use of an External Drive, AND that service was LIMITED to
only 4 Simultaneous Streams. The Hopper3 can make use of 16 Simultaneous Streams. So, now, we can Record
up to 12 Streams and watch 4 Separate Streams in 4 different locations in the house. The MOST I've managed
to get to is 8 Simultaneous Recording Streams, and 2 Live Streams, one in the Family Room, and one in the
Downstairs Bedroom, for a total of 10 Used Streams. DISH and the Hopper3 System is FAR SUPERIOR to ANY
prior TV Service we've EVER had. When we switched over to DISH from U-Verse, we wanted EVERYTHING that
the U-Verse U-300 Service had. So, my research revealed that DISH Network's 'America's Top 250' plus Showtime,
and Starz got us the equivalent to U-Verse U-300. AND, we're saving roughly $15 to $20 a month over U-Verse.

In addition to DISH, we've added a ROKU Ultra 4K Device in the Family Room connected to our HD 65" Samsung
TV. On the ROKU we have Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, my Plex Account, and now BritBox.
We are 'Loaded For Bear' now for TV viewing flexibility.

My parents' Vizio 40" HD Smart TV manages to be compatible with our Linksys MESH Network, and gives my parents
smooth access to Amazon Prime in their bedroom. Netflix is also available to them, but mostly they watch the Amazon
Prime when in their bedroom. I make use of Paramount+ and BritBox over my computer on my 4K BenQ monitor, 28".

I only watch stuff on the computer when the parents are making use of the 65" for their stuff.

We're still on U-Verse for Internet/Broadband Access. AT&T Fiber is NOT yet available in our area; so, we're trapped on
50Mb VDSL speeds; however, because U-Verse Broadband is 'Dedicated', and NOT shared across the neighborhood, our
ROKU and Computer Streaming has NO ISSUES streaming video at any time of day or night. STILL, I can't wait for
AT&T Fiber to come to our area of our city. We'd sign up for their Gigabit Connection in a heartbeat!

We've kept the same number of STBs in the house when we switched to DISH. So, the Hopper3 is in the Attic/Office,
(all by itself, NOT viewed by us), and we have 4 Wireless Joeys throughout the home. So, a total of 5 STBs with the Hopper3,
but only 4 connected to TVs. Due to the necessity of keeping track of updates, and the more 'computerized' nature of the
Hopper3 vs the U-Verse DVR, I've had to connect an ASUS VE228 22" Monitor to the Hopper3 for diagnostics and maintenance.

The Wireless Joeys are connected via Ethernet, Cat5, to each respective MESH 'Child' Nodes throughout the home. The ROKU
Ultra 4K Device is also connected via Cat5 to the Family Room MESH Node. NOT much in use since having the ROKU, we still
have my Panasonic Blu-Ray Player, also connected by CAT-5 to the MESH Node.

We've just renewed a 2Yr Contract with DISH... AMAZING how fast 2Yrs has gone by!!! EVEN WITH the hiccups we had in
the initial setup of DISH in our home, that took 6 Months to iron out and fix the incompatibilities of the U-Verse Gateway
with the Hopper3 DVR, I can honestly say that DISH Network is the BEST TV Service we've had in this house. Original COMCAST,
(NOT XFINITY, that wasn't available to us when we were with COMCAST), was the WORST TV Service we've had in the house.

However; I believe that more and more, people are moving to straight Streaming Services, whether directly through Smart TVs, or
adding Amazon, or ROKU Devices. We're 'Late Bloomers' to the Streaming Services, AND, we honestly see good value in our
DISH Network's 'America's Top 250' Package. So, we're NOT cutting the cord any time soon.

Our latest change-out with AT&T's Gateway has us on their BGW-210-700 Gateway. I'm reluctant to remove the DISH Network's
'Hopper Internet Connector' to 'Test' whether the 'Incompatibilities' of U-Verse Gateways still exist with the Hopper3 DVR. So,
the HIC Device remains connected. (IF it AIN'T broke, DON'T fix it, is my strategy at this time.)

Mom and I make great use of the DISH Remotes with Voice Input. Dad is afraid of all this new tech stuff that we've put in place
for our TV Services. Dad's said that if something happens to mom or I, he'd either NOT watch TV, or even cancel out the DISH Network
Service. He also has NO interest in working with the ROKU Remote. He says it's ALL too technical for him. He 'barely' managed to
utilize the U-Verse TV remotes.

I hope everyone is doing well, I hope that Carlos and Vic have managed to kick out whatever 'bugs' were in their bodies and that they're
back at peak vitality again. :-)

God Bless,

Everyone,

Well, it's been awhile since I've posted in here.... I've had a successful second knee surgery; right knee this time. :-)
Reminder, left knee was October 24th, the right knee just done February 1st.

I'm still living downstairs in the spare bedroom. I'm just out of "In-Home Physical Therapy", and just into my
regular Physical Therapy. I had one hiccup with the right knee surgery.... I picked up a NASTY case of SEVERE
Eczema well below the right knee incision. The eczema covers the lower shin and wraps completely around the
calf of the right leg. It was quite 'gooey' for the last week and a couple of days. The 'gooey-ness' has mostly
subsided, and now only have a few spots of 'seepage'. The seepage is NOT enough to keep the towel wrap on
the leg, anymore; while the leg was gooey I did have a terrycloth towel around the lower leg held in place by
an Ace Bandage. Now; however, I'm just letting the fresh air get to the leg, as it is healing up nicely.

The surgical scar is sealed, and NO chance of eczema goo getting into the scar area. I've managed to heal up
enough that I no longer need the 'Handle'-Apparatus/support at the downstairs toilet. I've even managed,
in the last week and a half, to make a couple trips up the 14 steps to our upstairs and reset our DISH Network
Hopper3 DVR, and pick up some printings on our Brother Printer. I'm keeping trips upstairs to a minimum;
however, as I DON'T want to overdo it, yet.

Like the last surgery, my Post-Op meds were Xarelto, 10mg, once daily for 12 days, Generic Norco 325mg
tablets, (up to two tablets), every four hours for pain, and Generic Mobic 15mg tablets, 1 time daily for
inflammation control. I've well finished off the Xarelto, I'm on my second refill of Norco, and just called in
a refill for the Mobic.

Now being off the Xarelto, I've been allowed to add back in my Aspirin, Black CUMIN Seed Oil, Turmeric,
and Generic Lovaza, (prescription Omega-3's), and my GOLO Metabolic Realigning pill. Also, back on my
one tablet of 500mg of Metformin to control artificially raised blood sugar levels from my Ziprasidone for
my Bipolar Disorder.

Pain is lessening every day, and I'm taking fewer and fewer pain pills. I'm trying to make this recent bottle
my last bottle of pain meds. During my left leg's recovery, at this point, I was able to stop the pain meds; so,
I anticipate the same, now, with my right leg.

All-In-All, things are progressing just about as well as the left leg was at this juncture. I don't anticipate any
problems. I can't wait for the eczema to go away completely, and have the flaky dry skin gone, soon.
