Voyager travels at this moment at the speed of 18 m per second so just make the calculations.

18m per second? That is 64.8km per hour = speed of a car?

wikipedia said it is 17km per second.

Just wondering, can we install Boinc seti@home (command line version) into a USB thumbdrive.
Next time when we want to re-install OS, we just need to safely remove that thumbdrive.
After re-install OS, re-plugin the thumbdrive and run Boinc-seti immediately.

We can even plug that thumbdrive to any computer (with same OS) and run Boinc-seti on any computer.

When using a high efficiency PSU (90%), It is a good idea to use one PSU to power two motherboards.
Because those high efficiency PSU are very expensive and also high power ( > 800 Watts).
A normal Intel I5 or I7 plus MB consume only about 200Watts, or maybe 300watts(with a high end graphics card).

An article about one PSU power two MBs:

Am running boinc by using commend line ./boinc_client
I want it to stop download new WU, how can i do that?
For the GUI window, I know it has a button for [no new task], but doesn't seem to have this option when run using the command line.
I am thinking to to re-install a new operating system on this computer.

But even if i specify ./boinc_client --fetch_minimal_work , it still downloaded 4 WU.

Thanks

I am thinking the other way, that is to use a smaller power supply(but high efficiency one) to reduce the power consumption
A desktop with a pentium I5 (less than 100W), motherboard+onboard graphics card+harddisk will not consume more than 150W, take out the DVD drive.
So a 250W will be enough.

I also running setiathome on a laptop, this laptop's power supply is only 180Watt.

on your project preferences pick a different venue (add school/work/home) and untick both astropulse boxes and the box from 'if not available, accept other'
set the host to the new venue on that hosts details page - at bottom of the page drop down menu for 'location'.

Regarding lack of AP: the currently loaded set of tapes has all the AP split already. When we get fresh tapes, they'll have new AP.

Thanks. i followed your step and it works!
On my Solaris 10 machine, today finally got one AP

Dark Energy:
Imagine the burning star, supernova explosion, matter fall into black hole, gamma ray burst, merging of two neutron stars, merging of two black holes..etc...all these events emit huge amount of energy in the form of radiation. Due to the vastness of space most emitted radiation(energy) will simply traveling in space for a long period of time before reaching the destinations.
Energy in the state of 'traveling' is call Dark Energy (source: imagination from myself)

Dark matter:
No one knows the total mass of all black holes in a Galaxy (example: Milky Way galaxy)
All the Dark Matter are actually reside at the singularity of black holes. (source: imagination from myself)

just a thought......

My old computer crashed / Broke , I can't get the boinc / seti info to abort.
So how do I get the computer removed from seti ?

It happens to my FreeBSD machine too.
It was ok when I run boinc under root account.
But yesterday i tried create a boinc login account and run boinc under boinc account. Don't know why this morning after shutdown and login again everything not working. Shutdown and re-login as root again only to find out that the whole boinc directory gone! missing! (there were 6 wu inside the projects folder!)

My boinc (on Solaris 10) so far crunched 3 setiathome-enhanced wu and one astropulse wu.

All 3 setiathome.enhanced wu produced error but the astropulse's result is ok.
Seem like i will need to re-iinstall the whole Solaris 10 and the boinc again.
It is on a P-IV machine that i am not using it for anything. So ok to play with it a bit.
