Yeah. Finally 50,000 credits. And I'm second in my team by RAC (close to 1st, and fifth by total credit) with only two hosts as compared to 7 for the user in first place. But then he/she is probably not using his/her computers to their full extent.
Since this is SETI/BOINC Milestones, let me also add that I'm improving my French by participating in the message boards.

Pardonnez-moi n'importe quels fautes.

Actually, not quite. If you and I process a work unit, and the outputs compare. We should both claim the same amount for credit, and be granted same. REGARDLESS of how long it took.

I agree with that. I'm not much of a programmer, but scientifically, wouldn't it be feasible to multiply the CPU time by the CPU benchmark results for that computer to calculate the total points a WU should get? If you think about it, they are inversely related. This way, your CPU will be credited for the amount of work it does, and not the time it takes for the work to be done.

Or better still, the SETI guys will know how much information a particular WU has, how many seconds of recorded sky data, for example, and that can be used as a basis for the number of points a host gets for completing that WU, so that each WU fetches you a particular number of points, "REGARDLESS of how long it took."

P.S. WinterKnight, thanks for the reply.

Now that Mark's problem is solved, why is my client claiming only around 6 credits per WU?
Yesterday I upgraded from BOINC v4.45 to v5.2.13, and have installed Crunch3r's optimised application.
This is a Pentium M 1.6 GHz, not overclocked (except the graphics chipset, which doesn't matter in this case) with 512 MB DDR memory.
My WUs, on the other hand, now complete in half the time - from 90 minutes to about 45 minutes each. Could that be the reason for the low claimed credit?

D*mn. Won't get to 50000 before the end of the year.
But 36000 in two months with 1.5 computers is pretty good, eh?
And my RAC dropped 300 points in 1 day, and the next, went up 400 points. Weird.

Wow. I am Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
I've wanted to say that all my (rational) life, and now I have a reason to say it. I bet I'm the happiest guy in the world at this moment.

'An accomplished diplomat who can virtually do no wrong, you sometimes know it is best to rely on the council of others while holding the reins.

There are some words which I have known since I was a schoolboy. "With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably." These words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie -- as a wisdom, and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged.

Jean-Luc is a character in the Star Trek universe.'

Hi. I just wanna say hi to you as you are first Indian I have met here. Also I would like to say how saddened I am at what has happened up in the NW of India with all those poor souls losing their lives in that disater. I wish all those who lost their lives a happy resting place and I hope that the survivors hang on there and come through OK. Regards from Great Britain.

Thank you. At least you know about it.

All the servers are running, but ping or tracert doesn't reach. Weird, eh?
Its been 24 hours now since I've uploaded my last result. I can still download though. And I now have 9 results waiting. Is about 350 credits per day good enough for a Pentium M 1.6 GHz on WinXP SP2 512 MB DDR-RAM?
Thanks
