[I would highly recommend you download the "chicken" optimised application, though, as a 1 Gig processor will take a long while to grind through the enhanced WUs we are now getting.

The computer speed is Fine, it Seti that is running slow, what is this "CHICKEN" you are talking about????

FYI: firefeedsSF and I are one and the same(just a diffrent computer

If the project itself is gone from the "projects" tab it sounds like you will have to attach again. The SETI servers are all up and running and unless there's a connection problem you should be able to log on. If you could give a little more detail. What were you doing? Did you just start it and it wouldn't connect? Post about the last 20 or so messages from your messages tab if they're any there.
Jim

I found the problem and it was with a remote account of AOL's that was causing the problem and blocking all traffic, I removed the offening program and everything is back,
Sorry for the fire drill again

Once again I find that I can't download new work for this project, Is this a problem with Seti or Bonic?
I keep getting the following messages
" couldn't concet to hostname{setibonicdata.ssl.berkeley.edu}"

Post:
As I see we still havent' got all of our servers back running properly I'll post this also.
In your message you mentioned " I'm always getting error messages and it's taking more of my time than before."
Yes you will see error messages from time to time but BOINC is designed to be "hands off". Once you have the system set up and running properly, just let it run. It shouldn't take any of your time.
Now since BOINC is a little more complicated in that it lets you attach to many different projects and share your excess cpu cycles between them, it will take a little more time and work to get everything set up and working right but after that's done, just forget about it and enjoy the "scenery" (your screensaver. You lucky guy, I'm running Linux and the screensaver is not an option for me!) I'm so sorry that you are having your problems just when we are having ours, which they are probably related.
I can see that you have already earned quite a few credits from here so you must be doing work. But your mention of "communication deferred" might be just one of your settings.
There are several options as to your preferences that will affect the way your computer "talks" to us and how much work you get at any certain time. The main one is "Connect to network every X days." This can be anything from 0.1 to 10 days (might be 7, not positive). Another thing that can affect your work is if you have been turning in bad work. You currently have your computer(s) hidden so I can't tell anything about it. But if you have been turning in bad work, it will affect the amount of work you receive. This is done to keep from having computers that download thousands of work units a day, crunching them till they give an error then send in the result and get another batch. And yes there are computers out there that are not working properly that return an unuseable result after only a few minutes of crunch time and want more. So we have limits on them. This is not saying that your computers are ones that are doing this, but since you have them hidden we can't tell anything about them to be able to help you. If you do have one that turns in bad results that reduce your allowance, if you would unhide them it would help us diagnose the problem. We could look through the results you have turned in and see if any are bad causing your quota to go down. (I see you have 6630 credits now so that means your computer(s) can't be *all* bad)
But without information to go on we can't do much. However check the status pages and when all the servers are up and running again, we will try to help.

Post:
Just be patient with us. If you will check the server status page, you will see that our splitters are not working at the moment and we just don't have any work ready to send. There have been problems (power outages and network problems) that will take a little while to get fixed. You don't need to do anything. As soon as new work is available work will be sent to you.

Sorry, I just reread your post. How long have you been on BOINC-Seti? If you are having problems and have not been able to get any work at all, post the last 10 or 20 of your error messages from your "messages" tab and we can try to see what is happening.

I started with Seti at Home many years ago and moved to Bonic when Seti did, and everyday I get that Bonic is idle message even if I have a pending project

I don't understand what's going on but ever sence I move from the Old Seti at home to this Bonic server, I'm never doing any work for I'm always waiting for "Communication Deferred" and my screensaver is always Idle.
what the point of doing this project, I can't get updates(new work) and I'm always getting error messages and it's taking more of my time than before.
I thought this was going to be better?
So WTF?
