My idea: Make the screen able to be raised or lowered with a handle at the bottom or top of the screen, kind of like on some desk lamps, just sturdier

I've been trying to remember where it was we saw it (both Kris and I stopped at the place), possibly in Wichita, or maybe further south in Oklahoma. It was this same sort of multi Coke product dispenser, but rather than a stand alone machine it was a 3 wall panel setup with cups, lids, straws, etc on a small counter to the right, the center section was the dispenser where you filled the cup with ice/product, and on the left at about the same height as the other equipment was the recessed and slightly angled back touch screen to pick a flavor and fill your cup. Not sure if it would improve accessibility, but everything ended up being about waist high when standing in front of it. Don't know if that sort of setup is an option or some sort of home spun hybrid.

Of course it was the trailer brakes.
Who owned the trailer?

edit:
he he....

Huh... that's what the cop said. (minus the 'he he')

It's been many moons since I was out that way, but if the truck weigh station at the bottom of the hill on the southbound side is still there, I wouldn't feel too broken up if it burned down.

($350 for 'defective equipment'... of course the trailer brakes were smoking at the bottom of a 5 mile/6% grade... you made me stop!) :)

That would be a siding. Most Canadian main lines are double tracked these days, so passing sidings are rarely needed, unless track work is underway. In addition, we built so much track in the first half of the 20th century that even where main lines are single, there is probably an alternate route between any two major points. The alternate may be a bit longer, but that is better than letting a train sit. Rail freight in Canada is usually not time sensitive. That stuff goes by truck or by air.

BNSF has successfully completed their new dual main in the local area. They now can have twice as many trains in the same space staring at the red board!

Due to Canadian Wild Fire smoke, image taken in Minnesota ....

Our normal 10 mile visibility here in eastern Nebraska is down to 3-5 miles tonight due to the smoke from up north. The smoke has been present, but high enough in the atmosphere so that it was only noticable at sun rise and sunset with a pinkish tint to the sky. Storms today, and the passage of a cold front, has let the smoke settle to ground level over most of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. You can actually smell it out there tonight.

I am sure the native residents appreciated THAT lot....

LOL! Weeping Water only has 1000 or so residents, most of whom have 'grown up' with the several mines operating in the area. But there are always a few complaints whenever they do some blasting

A local limestone quarry owner always has a big 4th of July celebration. Included in the list of admittedly redneck, beer induced activities is the baseball launcher. A 2 inch diameter iron pipe driven two feet into the ground on one side of the lake. Approximately 150 yards away, on the other side of the lake, those participating as "catchers" don their baseball mitts and wait for an M80 or something homemade but equally potent (rock quarries gots dynamite!) to be lit, dropped down the pipe, and a baseball quickly balanced over the open end of the pipe. Usually takes a couple practice shots to get the angle/range right. From there it's all fun & games until somebody gets a hand blown off, which fortunately hasn't happened in the years I've attended that wonderful event.
