What happened to capture, relocate, and release?

Admittedly, having wildlife such as a mountain lion turn up in this area is extremely rare. Their natural range is about 300 miles north and west of Omaha at the closest. With a metro area population of nearly a million, it's not an area you would expect to find a big cat. Over the past 10 years there have been dozens of sightings, most of which were never confirmed, or proven to be misidentifications of indiginous wildlife or domestic animals. In my recolection there have been 5 confirmed lions. Two struck and killed by vehicles on the interstate, two (this one yesterday and one other a couple years ago) put down by law enforcement or humane society, both well with in the city, and one more fortunate cat that was shot and wounded in town, then tranquilized and transported to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo where it's wounds were treated and, upon recovery, was placed in the large cat display. Not sure if if it's still a resident there. I spend a fair amount of time in the 'wilderness' outside the city, and judging from tracks and other indications, mountain lions aren't nearly as rare in eastern Nebraska as the statistics show. For them to show up several miles into the city itself is what's unusual. With an abundance of small wild animals, wild pigs, deer, turkey and water fowl in the more rural areas up and down the Missouri river, a population of big cats could thrive virtually undetected. But Progress, that most dangerous and greedy beast of prey, decreases those 'wild' areas steadily each year.

From 1967 to 1971 The Frito Bandito was the spokesman for Fritos.

He was let go when it was determined he had no green card.

Three years ago, not long after going to work for OFC, I was down in Kansas on my way to small dairy farm with a 48000 pound load of glycerin. At an intersection on the 2-lane highway just east of Haviland, a wreck happened when a car and pickup truck coming towards me collided. The pickup was stopping, to wait for the approaching line of traffic I was in, to make a left turn. The car came up behind the nearly stopped pickup at highway speed. For some reason the driver of the car didn't even slow down and seconds before I met them, the car crashed into the rear of the pickup. The impact spun the car into my lane. I tried to move right onto the shoulder and locked the brakes to avoid a collision with the car, but at 60mph, and with a gross weight just shy of 80000 pounds, there was no way to avoid it. Too far to the right and my sloshly liquid load would have put me on my side. The impact with the car completely destroyed my left steering tire, rim, and suspension. this put me into an uncontrolled leftward drift with the steering wheel frozen in that position from the collision. I was turning left whether I wanted to or not, all I could do was set the brakes and hope I could get stopped before crossing the oncoming lane and hitting the ditch. With much luck I came to a stop with the tractor off the road in the ditch and trailer, still upright and not damaged blocking the highway. With all of that, there were no serious injuries. Even the guy in the car, who I really nailed, had only a superficial cut on his arm and ultimately refused any medical help or transportation to the hospital. He was ticketed for careless and inattentive driving. His car was totalled, the pickup he initially hit heavily damaged, and my poor truck had to be flatbedded back to Omaha. It took about a month but that tractor was rebuilt and put back in service. Though I nor the company were ever able to verify, it is highly suspected that the inattentive driver was texting, causing the accident.

I'm sure they only come indoors at night time to keep warm.

How comforting.

Kris and I had a surprise visitor today. How he found his way into the bedroom, and moreover, how he avoided Fuzzy's keen eye is a mystery.

The Visitor

After our little visit, I escorted our young friend way out into the field and sent him on his way.

Not really an Easter Egg in the classic sense with a programmer's name or initials hidden away, but Win 7's God Mode has been called an Easter Egg.

Description: It may be hyperbolically named, but Windows 7's God Mode is indeed omnipresent. It conveniently puts hundreds of settings from all around the operating system all in one place. To turn on God Mode, create a new folder on your desktop--or anywhere you'd like--and name it: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. Don't include the final period. The resulting folder will contain 270 items, representing virtually every configurable option in Windows 7.

Back 'in the day' I spent countless hours seeking, exposing and manipulating the 'microdot' to get programmer Warren Robinette's name to appear in the Atari VCS Adventure game.

Hey, thanks everybody! Not sure if it's a sign, but I got an unsolicited senior discount at the restaurant today. I'm not quite really eligible yet, but who am I to argue with a waitress? :)
