INCORRECT PASSWORD
(Message 189657)
Posted 17 Nov 2005 by The worm that turned Post: TOBY i uninstalled boinc so I was suprised anything was in the folder "Then you are looking at the wrong tab. You need to look at the "Processes" tab, not the "Applications" tab. There are always windows processes running even if you aren't using any programs at the moment so there should always be SOMETHING listed. Look for a "boinc.exe" in the "Image Name" column." Your quite correct I did'nt look at "processes". Too late now though as the boinc folder deleted when asked this morning. So when I get the chance i will try again to install Thanks to everyone who has tried to help. To be quite honest at the moment I don't care cuz we (Australia that is) have just beaten Uruguay in a penalty shoot out and were on our way to germany to play in the world cup. |

Posted 16 Nov 2005 by The worm that turned Post: This computer has never had boinc before. After uninstall 2 files still remain in boinc directory stdout.txt and stdoutdae.txt They will not let me delete them as being used by another programme. Task manager says NOTHING running file "gui_rpc_auth.cfg is not in the folder. You shoudn't assume I upgraded whilst boinc still running I have never done that. |

Posted 16 Nov 2005 by The worm that turned Post: Im trying to install boinc on a new computer we have on the network in work. But all I keep getting is incorrect password and the network connection icon on the bottom shows as disconnected. I allready have boinc running on another computer in this network we no problems but that was before all this stuff about network / proxy servers and passwords was added. My home computer went through a spasm of not wanting to connect when I upgraded boinc to the latest version last night but agreed to start eventually after a few restarts and I have no idea why. I also cannot delete all the files in boinc after uninstalling. A couple of them say they are being used by another programme even though nothing at all is running. A reboot doesn't help they still remain. Why do we continue to make it difficult to use boinc ? I can see us looseing a lot of crunchers. |

What does this mean??
(Message 54691)
Posted 17 Dec 2004 by The worm that turned Post: "Yes! you must be using one of those new quantum computers and it is putting out a quantum polarity field which is causing a paradox in the space-time continuum. If you don't take it offline immediatly, all life as we know it could be destroyed! You might be able to keep it online if you reverse the polarity and adjust the harmonics of your quantum containment field to match the isofrequency of the subatomic bonds within the CPU. But be sure to keep an eye on the plasma flow regulators or they could blow and overload the entire EPS grid!" Thanks for the warning Toby Have done as you suggested plasma flow has stabilised You can sleep easy last week |

(Message 42315)
Posted 2 Nov 2004 by The worm that turned Post: Paul I wasn't refering to you In regard to getting people worried about their computer systems failing. I said some of the earlier posts. I do find it hard to understand though why you can't accept that in most cases the current problem with zero credits is a Berkeley hardware or software error. This problem started to appear quickly on crunchers using different systems all around the world.I know we will always find the odd instance of zero credit appearing to any of us but this was something else. Logic tells me it can't be individual computer errors and thus we should look to Berkeley first. The problem (whatever it was/is) seems to be feeding out of the system now and I expect people to see instances of zero credit falling to normal levels. PS By the way Paul your'e a legend down here in oz and a credit to the forum don't ever stop |

Posted 1 Nov 2004 by The worm that turned Post: Paul, All i'm saying is don't get everyone worried that their computer systems are faulty, when all the evidence is pointing to a Berkeley hardware failure of some kind. Some of the earlier posts in this thread were plainly going along that track. |
