Posted 10 Aug 2013 by dcappello Post: So I stepped away from the console with much frustration - but about a month later I am back All drivers up to date etc. I reset and detached from SETI deleted the BOINC data folder rebooted re-installed BOINC re-attahced to SETI project Still blowing out work units - show all running for 01:55:49 and early reports show results are invalid... I am about to toss in the towel - anybody have ANY last suggestions? |

Posted 5 Jul 2013 by dcappello Post: Corrects to my last update. So after I watched the GPU for a bit - it stared blowing right thru them. Swapped out the GTX460 1G for the GTX460 768 and observed the same behavior. (now at a total loss) (2 cards bad?) As it stands now - I replaced BOTH cards with a brand new 550TI I had laying around. Have not seen a GPU task yet for that card. Will keep my eye on it. (and it is well cleaned out - dust be gone) |

Posted 5 Jul 2013 by dcappello Post: Here is an update: I updated BIOS - no go - after update and sanity check on settings (basically stock) still blowing out GPU work units. Popped the side panel off and ripped out the 2nd 460 (it was the 768 card) left the 1G card there. This seems to have stopped blowing GPU work units - at this point perhaps it is a bad 460? I have a GTX 550 TI NIB that I could swap this 460 out with - have to do some research but I think the 550TI has an edge on the 460... As for the dust balls - not to bad on the inside: I'll let this run for a day and perhaps all ya all can help me check the work units ? Thanks again for the tips etc. |

Posted 4 Jul 2013 by dcappello Post: This is all good stuff!!! So I double checked the sensors - nothing out of the ordinary there. For reference here is the info on the other card (and also next to the original post/card) One thing I didn't do on the driver install is I left off the "Nvidia experience" So I went back again re-installed drivers WITH that option. If that doesn't work I"ll pull the 768 card and see if it runs with one. thanks for all the tips and info. :) |

Tons of Invalid Results
(Message 1387441)
Posted 3 Jul 2013 by dcappello Post: So I started updating all my SETI nodes - bringing a few of them back online and put them back to work. One rig "seasnake" http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=4038605 Is having fits with the new v7 app and lunatics new installer - everything is win7 64 bit and so are all the installers. (install is working just fine no issues there) I have removed (multiple times) BOINC and Lunatics - and even removed my app-info file and I am still pulling errors - blowing through GPU units like no tomorrow - generating a boat load of errors (sorry about that) Mark was helping me out and suggested I post up. I am at a loss of how to fix this. Open to suggestions and ideas? Machine details: GPU (there are 2 of them in this rig) Here are my selections for Lunatics and No errors on BOINC v7 startup that I can see: Anybody have any ideas what I should be looking at? |

Check out astroclip at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mgeyster/astrocliptm-photograph-the-cosmos-with-your-iphone And yes I am backing the project. |

Posted 31 Jul 2011 by dcappello Post: Chris, Do you know anybody that has build a rig using expansion backplanes and is crunching 7X24 ? I am interested and intrigued to say the least - looking at my RAC you will know why I just couldn't keep things cool this summer here in Dallas with 25+ days over 100F. Thinking to unloading some machines and going this expansion route. Comments most welcome. JPM - sorry to see you bail - I hope you'll come back someday. |
