1) Questions and Answers : Windows : Problem with running Seti on Windows XP (Message 993851)
Posted 1583 days ago by Profile tmd_63
Has anything changed recently to the Seti or BOINC programs. I have started getting freezes when running other programs on Windows XP. Even the mouse freezes when trying to move it across the screen.
This has only been a recent (past few moths) thing.
I have tried to reduce the CPU useage to 50% to try and stop the stutters but this has not worked. My processor appears to flick between 20% and 100% very quickly, instead of a steady 50%.
Has anyone else had similar problems?

...but the info you posted doesn't show "@yahoo.co.uk", it shows "@yahoo.de".

The post was sent with the full headers, which are not shown above, to yahoo.com for the attention of yahoo.de. And this was the reply.
Why they have said it was yahoo.co.uk and not yahoo.de, I have no idea. Maybe the forged account had further information of a yahoo.co.uk address instead.
All I know is that, in this country, it is illegal to send unsolicited emails for any reason. And this was unsolicited. This person had also tried to add me as a friend on facebook. Also, unsolicited and unwanted.
Can the forum moderators explain the part of his email about the emails he "COLLECTED FROM BOINC AND SETI", That sounds like farming emails to me and is highly illegal.

Please note. I have received a reply from yahoo.

"After investigation, we have determined that this email message did not originate from the Yahoo! Mail system. It appears that the sender of this message forged the header information to give the impression that it came from the Yahoo! Mail system. The "@yahoo.co.uk" address associated with the email does not exist."

I have been sent a message from someone who has farmed a load of email addresses from SETI. He has also been trying to add me as a friend on facebook.
EVERYONE BE AWARE OF THIS PERSON.
His name is Henry-Roland Dorau (roldor2@yahoo.de).
And his email contains a link to a website. This could be a farming or physhing site. DO NOT OPEN OR GIVE THIS PERSON ANY INFORMATION OR REPLY TO HIS EMAILS OR OTHER ATTEMPTS AT COMMUNICATION.

7) Questions and Answers : Windows : Has Anyone Tried to Use The Latest UPDATE 6.2.18 ? (Message 800780)
Posted 2202 days ago by Profile tmd_63
I have just installed .18 without problems.

It has also downloaded astropulse without problems.

But when it tries to download seti 6.03, then I get a problem with my virus scanner.

I too have been having a problem uploading to seti. I keep getting an error 403 (which if this is http that means 'access forbidden')?

I use BoincLogX and Mapview from Bjorn Henke.

BoincLogX holds the past work unit result and Mapview displays them. Very nice display and setup.

Posted 3154 days ago by Profile tmd_63
I use BoincLogX from Biorn Henke to store and record all the work units I have worked on. This has a very detailed skymap (mapview is a separate program) that shows the units with a colour scheme for special finds from BoincLogX.

Check out http://www.bjoernhenke.de/

Posted 3289 days ago by Profile tmd_63
One enhancement that would be of great use is to split the scheduler on galileo into two.
One for uploading and the other for downloading.
That way, you could suspend or throttle back outgoing data if the system gets too overloaded with data. Allowing the system to catch up.
14) Questions and Answers : Windows : Master File Fetch Failed (Message 157010)
Posted 3294 days ago by Profile tmd_63
The IP address 127.0.0.1 is an indication that your machine is not connected to the net. The file fetch issue means that you and Berkeley are not connected long enough for the file to be transferred.

So what do I need to set up in BOINC to get it to talk through the NAPT router? If I look at my machine with ipconfig, it shows the default gateway as XXX.X.X.X (actual number withheld for security). Do I need to set the proxy in BOINC to point to the same gateway? What port number should be used?
15) Questions and Answers : Windows : Setting Work and Home preferences (Message 154503)

How do you set the BOINC manager to either home or work preferences as set up in my online home page?
16) Questions and Answers : Windows : Master File Fetch Failed (Message 154501)
Posted 3299 days ago by Profile tmd_63
I am unable to connect BOINC in my home PC to setiathome.berkeley.edu.
All I get is:
Using your default projecy prefs
Insufficient work; requesting more
Master file fetch failed
Resetting Project
Detaching from project

I have set BOINC manager and BOINC Core Client CLI to have full access through my McAfee Firewall and I am routing through a NAPT router. But neither BOINC app is communicating on port 80.

BOINC Manager has one outbound hook to 127.0.0.1 on port 1043.
BOINC CLI has two hooks;
127.0.0.1 port 1768 and
Listening port 1043

I have tried to disable the firewall briefly and attempted a connect without it and it still failed.

Has anyone had experience of this problem with BOINC, McAfee firewalls and NAPT ADSL routers?

If so. HELP!!!!!!
17) Questions and Answers : Windows : Master File Fetch Failed ... still ongoing (Message 105129)
Posted 3413 days ago by Profile tmd_63
I have 'upgraded' my old SETI@HOME account to run on BOINC. I have received the new 'Project URL' and 'Account Key' etc.. but for the last 'month' I've been unable to get the first work unit for use with the BOINC software! All I get is 'Master File Fetch Failed' etc!!.

I know the program boinc.exe needs to have contact with IP address 66.28.250.125 port 80 which is setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu

My firewall says that boinc.exe has outbound traffic to 127.0.0.1 on port 1277. This is a loopback ip not the internet. How can boinc be setup to allow access as
I have a firewall on my pc which I can setup and then a NAT server for the internet.
I have tried to set the use http proxy but this does not work.

The IP address 127.0.0.1 is my local host. When using Boinc Manager, that program needs to have contact with my local host with IP address 127.0.0.1

The firewall is configured to allow BOINC access to the NAT router. but BOINC is not talking to the router (even if I specify the routers local network address with port 80).
How do I tell BOINC to communicate with 66.28.250.125 port 80 throught a NAPT or NAT router without opening port 80 to attack from outsiders?

I have tried to re-install without the firewall in place but it still gets 'Master File Fetch Failed'.
BOINC does not want to talk to the NAPT router at all. Considering that this is my only means of running Seti on my home machines, will anyone help with this problem?

Did all that and it still gives 'master file fetch failed' and that is without the firewall operating. It does not want to get passed the NAPT server.

I downloaded version 4.25 should I try 4.19 instead??
