Hi Pond Grass Shrimp,

Thanks for the info. I seen that fix when I was searching but it was for Windows Office and did not state Win 7. I downloaded it, installed, and cleaned the registry and BINGO, it worked fine.

Thanks again for the help.

In need help.

I have a Win 7 system that I tried to upgrade my Boinc to 6.12.26 (x64). I started getting an error saying that the file was located on a network share, which it was not. I updated my three other Win 7 x64 systems with no issues. I decided to uninstall Boinc from the system through the programs and features to no avail: the error was access deigned. Therefore, I decided to manually delete every director and file with Boinc, and manually removed all instances of Boinc and Space Laboratory from my registry. I then tried to install 6.12.26 (x64) and get this error:

Internal Error 2718 {4D12D805-50B2-4287-B3B9-AD4D74F85693}

I have tried looking up the different fixes but nothing seems to work.

Any help would be appreciated. I am at the point of reloading the whole system.

Hi Wander,

I checked the firewall on both machines and they seem ok. Just in case, I turned one machine's firewall off to verify if this is a hidden problem.

I also used netstat -b and found the machine using port 31416 for the boincmgr.exe and boinc.exe. This seems the same as the machines that are running normal; however, all the good machines show port connections to setiboinc.ssl.x and setiboincdata.ssl.x which my two broke machines do not show. They only show locoalhost ports for the foreign address.

Thanks for the info. I will keep on trying to get them back up.

Mark

Hi Mark,

BOINC uses a specific TCP port to "talk" to the science app (SAH in this case). Some firewalls block those ports thinking they're blocking some internet intrusion, and the message timeout occurs.

Check your firewall, it might be preventing BOINC to properly communicate with SAH. There's also some reports of other applications using BOINC's ports, but those are fairly rare occurrences. HTH,

Regards,
Wander

PS: BTW, it is spelled B-O-I-N-C :) Absolutely no relation with Steve Austin, Jamie Sommers or any other "bionic" being, ok? :)

ALL,
Last week I started having problems with two of my six machines, these two machines starting having problems with the BIONIC software. Both machines are working on two tasks and each of those tasks never complete: they just keep restarting over and over and over. Sample messages shown below.

I read a couple of solutions in the message boards and try them:
1. De-installed the BONIC software and reinstalled it.
2. Same as item 1 above but also deleted the whole BONIC directory as well: still the same problem

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
