I'd still love to have the credits from the time I was working at Mitre 10 in the early 2000s. But I was using my mitre10 email address, not my private one!!
We are doing a fantastic job, one day, something will appear!!

Information published by NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC.

Staff at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico are safe, but the storm destroyed a key instrument, and conditions in surrounding towns are still unknown.

Eric,
I love your passion for SETI. I also love the way you manage these threads.
Sometimes, you can be subtle and use obscure language. Sometimes you have to spell it out unequivocally.

Well said!!
I could add to your comments, the bad-mouthers comments really only affect those directly affected (Ie USA and North America).
So all those SETI Denizens in the rest of the world see their comments generally as pointless and ineffectual.

Keep up the good work,

Chris

That's unfortunate. However, as I've seen you through bad disks, failing systems, dodgy power, bad backups, crappy data splitters, weird migration problems, curious scripts and data corruption in the past, I see no reason why I should stop supporting SETI now!!
I look forward to being able to process SETI data again once you get things back on line.
Then, we can get back on with finding ET.

Keep up the good work team.
See you when you are back on line!!

Cheers,

Chris

I run 2 machines (Win 7 pro 64 bit). Both have GPU's that SAH can use. One got version 7 GPU work but the jobs errored saying the GPU was non-existant.
The other got jobs that ran for hours but never progressed. The GPU Meter indicated that the GPU was not doing any work. I aborted all of the GPU work so I now wait with baited breath for new GPU work!!

I run AVG 2013 on one of my machines (win7 64 bit) and often install the Beta BOINC (whenever it is available) on it. I don't recall this occurring on the 7.0.xx or the 7.1.1 beta's for my 64 bit system.
But, the alert is timely, thank you.

WIth respect to those who responded.

Note, all dollar values here are Australian Dollars.

Under Australian Law, making a claim that a donation is tax deductible when it is not, is an offence punishable by, in the case of an individual, Not more that 3 years imprisonment and/or a fine of not more than $5000 for EACH and EVERY offence, in the case of a corporate or business identity or a non registered (in Australia) charity the penalty is a fine of not more than $100,000 for the first offence and not more than $300,000 for subsequent offences.

Additionally, directors or officers of the organisation may be punished similarly to individuals.

Additionally, under Australian Law, All that is required is that an email, electronic message be sent to the organisation at a commonly known address or to their place of business, requesting emails requesting donations no longer be sent to a particular email address or that Mail not be sent to a particular address.

Failure to comply with this is punishable by not more than 5 years imprisonment and/or a fine of not more than $10,000 in the case of an individual. For orporate or business identity or a non registered (in Australia) charity the penalty is a fine of not more than $500,000 for the first offence and not more than $800,000 for subsequent offences.

Action on these provisions (which are included in the penalty sections of the Australian Taxation Act (as amended) (The Act) are not usually brought by an individual but more likely by either the State Police, Australian Federal Police or the Australian Taxation Office. These cases are heard in the High court of Australia and provisions of The Act are applicable to anyone making the claim in Australia, sending the email to Australia has, in a previous ruling (Commonnwealth of Australia V Buchanan) by the High Court, been admitted as making the claim in Australia.

Hi,
Please don't send me the messages. Donations to SETI@home are NOT tax deductible in Australia. There is a (albeit slight) chance that a complaint about the email inferring fraud under Australian law could be brought.

There is about 100% chance that the action would succeed and penalties could involve fines or prison sentences for the perpetrator/s.

Sorry to bring you the bad news,

Regards,

Chris

OI, all you Aussies, with the cricket against England finishing so ignominiously, why not join the Australia Team and show how we really compete. With only 25 Million people to provide support for SETI, let's give it a HUGE boost from Australia.

Thanks,

Chris Nelson.

Nice to see things are working to the positive cycle of the world. With New Servers in place and weeding out the old/faulty devices, outages should be minimised. Database corruption is one of those things that, on occasion, cannot be avoided. Fortunately, informix has some nice tools to fix database corruption which should make life more livable.

I can't afford to assist financially with SETI. However, I am happy to give my unused cpu cycles to aid the project.

Great to hear that the new box is close to being delivered.

(is the plural of Box, Boxen or Boxes???)

Cheers, Chris

I have a number of PC's that I a getting connections from the proxy server.

However, they are not able to report results.

Additionally, new builds are not connecting to the SETI@home server to start processing.

Obviously, I need to get the reporting site enabled from within our network.

In that case, and I have a lot of delayed results, What link should be unblocked for all PC's to report results and get new results

I have a large number of WU's that have passed their completion date and not reported because of this extended outage. What will happen to these results? Will we get credit for thid work we have don processing the WU's or will this just have been a waste of unused computer cycles?

Any unit that has zero results showing can be deleted, so you neeed to wait until the results are deleted from the db.

But what process do I use to remove them? I can not see a link or tool to do this.
