This is a sad day for SETI@home as it is definitely going to harm project's reputation.
I think administration should issue clear warnings and guidelines for all SETI crunchers in this regard.

I have a Q6600 with GTS250. RAC 12,472 at the moment :)

Thank you Mercer and congratulation from my side too. My first SETI computer was an AMD K6-2 450 Mhz with 3DNOW! Technology. It was perhaps the fastest thing around in 1999. I sent it to retirement in late 2003. It was averaging 35 hours per unit at that time :)

Maybe - I have currently only nVIDIA GPU, but if the performance is way higher I will think about buying an ATI GPU.

8) Why is a black hole called black hole and not super-all-sucking-in-hole??? ;)

A black hole is a region of space in which the gravitational field is so powerful that nothing, including light, can escape its gravitational pull. The black hole has a one-way surface, called an event horizon, into which objects can fall, but out of which nothing can come. It is called "black" because it absorbs all the light that hits it.

Hmmm... so the answer would be either more funding for bigger pipes or perhaps making work units more computational intensive so that there is less traffic (which would also require funding in the shape of research and programming)
