All,

Was any of our work used to trace this signal?

Hi all,

I was trying to update one of my settings for memory usage and I made the following pref changes for my default profile

Use at most
Enforced by version 5.8+ 50% of memory when computer is in use
Use at most
Enforced by version 5.8+ 1% of memory when computer is not in use

My question is. Am I reading this wrong? Does Computer in use mean BOINC is using the computer or is that when I am actively using the computer (aka suspend when in use?)

Not to mention the fact that I never have gotten the home/work/school to actually stay they will ususally default back to home so that does not even work right.

I can agree it would be nice to set things locally like that or atleast have control over the CPU usages

Something like that would be useful as well yes,

The main reason I can see a need for something like this is since Bonic uses 100% CPU most times it would be nice to have certain times when I know for a fact that I would not be using my computer that it could run without me having to worry about the CPU usages.

I would like to see a way where I can say something like this

Process 11AM to 10PM
Do not process 10PM to 12 AM
Process 12AM to 6 AM

instead of having just one time band that you can set to process why not allow it to be adjustable so we can choose the times we want to be able to process

Ok, that is fine, I was just afraid that I had been getting alot of corrupt WU's or that they were getting corrupted while on my computer.

Thanks all for the reply

That was the exact message I had in there. Is there any way around it or is it just part of the way the program works?

I saw BoincLogX mentioned in a lower thread and it had the URL of http://www.boinc.dk/download.php?file=BoincLogX_Setup_v1.11.exe

I tried this and I get page not found.

Anyone have another link?

But until Classic is no more there is still WU's for it so may as well run it as well.

This is one of the things I would like to see to I run both BOINC SETI@home and Classic SETI@home but BOINC uses 100% or atleast 90% CPU usage so Classic never has any CPU time to actually run.

IF there was a way in BOINC or in Classic to set the MaxCPU setting I would use it so that both programs could get equal CPU time.

Thank you for the answer I was not sure what the time out was setting at. I guess if I decide to take my laptop and leave bonic running I will have to mae sure I empty out the cache or find a way to have it connect at some point while I am gone

How is the Expiration (due date) of work units set. Is it set up for 2 week period? or is there another option that is used?

I may be traveling with my laptop soon so I wanted to see if I could download a few work units and process them and upload them when I get back

Is this possible?

Post:
Thank you Bill, that is what I thought may be the case, I had let all the WU's go run out and didnt download any new ones

I did not know if that would allow me to delete the host or not

Oh Well

One of my computers is giving me problems and I want to take it off of Bonic for good

I want to go ahead and delete the host out of my Computers list

There was a option to delete host but now I dont even see that link at all. Did that option disappear?

How do we remove hosts that we no longer are using?
18) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Controlling how many WU's to download at one time (Message 26643)

Thanks for the answer Quantum

It now makes a lot more sence then it did earlier.

I guess this is on of those were change happens but sometimes its the wording on those changes that is confusing

It would be nice if the web page had better reources on the gettings as to what things actually mean

> Lets suppose your computer does a WU for 2.4 hrs. Then it will do 10 WUs per
> day. If you set the above option (Connect to network about every ... days) to
> "1", BOINC will keep enough work for 24 hrs (10 WUs). If you set it to 0.1 it
> must get only 1 WU and will request another after 2.4 hrs.
> Its a theory, in fact it will DL 1, 2 or 3 WUs (according to my experience)

19) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Controlling how many WU's to download at one time (Message 26440)
Posted 14 Sep 2004 by Profile Stephen Richard
Post:
I seem to have lost a setting that would tell BONIC how many WU's to download and keep in queue at one time.

The only thing I can find that sounds like it is connect to the network ___ days is this the same option or is there another way to have it download so many WU's to keep a reserve just in case the schedulers or servers go down again

Anyone know anything about this?
