Possible Convention of States amendments:
1. Term limit their @55's!
2. Balanced budget!
3. Re-assert original meaning of the "commerce clause" and the "general welfare clause."
4. Limit executive orders and regulations!
5. Limit taxation!
6. Require the sunset of all laws to force them to keep voting for them if they want to keep them!

These will also limit the ability of the swamp creatures to be BOUGHT.

Saul Alinksy Rules for Radicals

#4. "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules." ... You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.

Trump is using this against the left. And it's working.

Clyde, I don't think you understand what I've been saying all along. There is no viable, able to win alternative to someone who can take the white house. The swamp is killing this nation because they've run amuck. The bullsh*t is coming out of the swamp and out of the dishonest press. $20T of "on the books" debt and $200T of unfunded *already promised* free shshsh... stuff from the federal government that there's no way to pay off. And the swamp wants to keep spending and spending and spending and spending on free health care. They are crashing this nation! And when it crashes, they'll blame me for not paying enough taxes. And they'll fool everyone into believe centralizing all power and control in the swamp will fix this nation and we'll enter a thousand year period of misery, suffering and despare--the natural state of humanity for the thousands of years before this *exception* in human history.

A limited federal government, as originally designed, needs to be put back in place. That way, no matter who takes the white house, they are restrained from the tyranny of progressivism.

CONVENTION OF STATES!

1. Term limit their @55's!

6. Require the sunset of all laws to force them to keep voting for them if they want to keep them!

Just a couple of examples of how to drain the swamp and these will give the swamp creatures "an excuse" to give to their constituents when they are explaining why they can't keep handing out free shshsh... stuff.

Excellent article! I've been saying:

...he’s [Trump's] defeating the Left using their own tactics.

since he announced he was running for president! No one else running at the time could have done this. The swamp doesn't know how to react to the swamp's rules when they are applied to them!

And I think Trump would welcome a CONVENTION OF STATES that forces the swamp creatures to start doing things that are good for the country and not for the swamp.

The states didn't vote against 'communism/socialism/liberalism/etc/etc/etc'. The states (or the people in said states) voted for a president that they believed would be 'for the PEOPLE'. The peoples' cause was just.

Unfortunately, 'the PEOPLE' are as a whole pretty dang ignorant and uneducated. And obviously many of them lack common sense or the ability to read between the lines (i.e. see through people and their bull$hit). So what happened, is the people with their just reasons, made the wrong choice because they simply believed what some orange guy on TV said to them.

If the people knew any better, they'd realize that they actually want and need a more socialist society.

"Unfortunately, 'the PEOPLE' are as a whole pretty dang ignorant and uneducated. And obviously many of them lack common sense or the ability to read <snip>"

Why are some incapable of learning from history?

Take Russia's history for example.

In the late 15th century, four tsars of the Rurik clan defeated/bribed landowning families to pledge allegiance to the central state to build the core of what would become the Russian Empire. Things were built then which remain a symbol of Russia to this day.

In the late 16th century, Ivan the Terrible died without an heir. Thus began the "Time of Troubles."

In the early 17th century, the Romanov dynasty finally rose to power in the Kremlin. He and his heirs expanded the Russian Empire through force. In doing so, the Russian identity and a sense of security was built through conquest and authoritarian rule. Wide open area, no natural boundaries and 300 years later, they had lost too many wars, gone through internal revolt and the last of the tsarist rule was brought down to bring Lenin and the Bolsheviks to power. More repression and more hardship as they went through the rhetoric of class conflict and the struggle between communism and capitalism. Where should power reside?

They were our friends/allies during WWII and helped us to defeat the nazis. 25M Russians died during WWII.

Then, in December of 1991, the flag of the USSR came down from the Kremlin for the last time. Do you know why?

BECAUSE CENTRAL PLANNING OF AN ENTIRE NATION DOESN'T WORK.

Their transition to some form of democracy included selling off all state assets and when they did this, the insiders of the old central planners/plant managers bought their industries for 10% of their value. Thus rose their current problem of oligarchs. Something some in here like to claim is running the U.S. right now, but there is no comparison. A struggle continues today between their oligarchs and their current government.

Their first elected president (Yeltsin) set the tone beginning in 1993. There was still a lot of resentment about east germany reunifying with west germany under WESTERN CONDITIONS. Can you imagine how you'd feel? Yelstin screwed up big time as their first elected president.

It's said Vladimir Putin came to power by making a deal with the oligarchs--he wouldn't challenge their ill-gotten gains if they would stay out of politics.

How to create stability in such chaos from transitioning from authoritarian rule to democracy so fast? Here comes Putin. He systematically began centralizing power again by making it look like he was reversing the corrosion of state power. He uses just enough repression to stop the populists but not so much that blood runs in the street. Their pension system remains screwed up, they have an aging population, and their economy remains slow because they still have people asking questions like, "who sets the price?"

Who's to say Trump and Putin aren't talking about some deals that'll improve both our economic conditions?

Our struggle to find the right balance between capitalism and communism has been relatively narrow and peaceful compared to Russian history. We have accumulated too much socialism (state power) as clearly seen in our debt and unfunded liabilities. It's time to tack to the other direction and move some power back to the states, and to the people, respectively.

I believe the choice is clear. A convention of states is the safest way we can preserve our liberty. That group of similar people to our founders is yet to be named. 2/3rds to call a convention of states, 3/4ths to pass anything that comes out of it. If 3/4ths of the states want it, the *PEOPLE* have spoken--not some very small group of swamp creatures.

Guy...

Correctly dismissing a previous poster's silliness.

You do understand that those who attend, frame and vote for a possibly New Constitution and Form of Government. May have unforeseen results. and disaster.

Even when one party has all the power, the federal government still can't seem to make the tough decisions for the good of the nation. Isn't this enough of an argument for a convention of states?

This last election proved that the states don't want liberalism/socialism/marxism/communism. It was the electoral college ("the states") that rejected that swamp creature known as hillary. Whoever attends, frames and votes for a possibly new form of government know that it's something that 3/4ths the states have to accept and agree with or it won't happen. Heck, our current president was elected with only 3/5th the states.

You (and those who hate/blame the constitution for all their woes) are concerned about a run away convention of states. But the evidence demonstrates there is only a very small chance it'll run away.

Our choices, reframed from a slightly different perspective:

1. Lose our liberty from an out-of-control government (because of the oligarchy of our judicial system which has become politicized).

https://www.wsj.com/articles/hawaii-judge-orders-loosening-of-trump-travel-ban-1500004506

One person ORDERS? What gives this U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson in Hawaii such authority over the ENTIRE UNITED STATES? Who made him the new webster's dictionary and the ability to redefine words? He should be, as a minimum, censured! The POTUS is trying to protect the people of the U.S. against radical terrorism and this is the second time some "NO NAME" federal judge has stopped him with an order flatulated from a judge's mouth. This "NO NAME" judge was a nominee from the POTUS (obama...) and confirmed by the SENATE. And as a matter of practicality, he should be impeached as a subversive and removed from the bench! He was installed by the two other branches of federal government--he should be removed by the two other branches of government!

2. Lose our liberty from an out-of-control convention of states (because of a small group of delegates who somehow or another fool 3/4ths of the states.)

Which one is more likely?

In what way is Trump committing treason? It's all fake news. Just removing Trump from office and allowing Pence to take the reigns won't do anything to fix this nation. If anything, we'll begin losing ground again. Trump is winning this wild and crazy, shoot 'em up video game known as politics these days. He's making small strides in cleaning up the swamp but the fake news won't admit it.

Our country is filled with sordid stories from the swamp. Heck, DC was originally a *real* swamp (donated because it wasn't good for anything else at the time) before it was designated as our capital. The swamp is filled with muck that covers up things like the life and times of Theodore Kennedy. Clinton wasn't the first one accused of having multiple sex partners while in office--the first stories started with our 3rd president, Thomas Jefferson--and it was with his slaves! There's been fist fights and a dual with pistols at 20 paces between VP Burr and Hamilton--it was Hamilton's 12th dual! One speaker of the house has gone down in history as the one everyone was afraid of because of his famous "cane beatings." Accusing our elected officials of treason began even before the revolutionary war was over!

Today, the level of swampness has increased almost to a point of no return. The failure of the swamp creature known as hillary stopped us from going over the cliff. There is nothing more corrosive these days than the corruption, cronyism, and the greedy swamp behavior involving lobbyists.

We, as American citizens, have two choices.

1. We can allow "the swamp" to continue ignoring more and more of the constitution (and the rights of the people) with hope that someday "the swamp creatures" will all of a sudden realize what they're doing and then voluntarily give up the power they've usurped over the years. Or...

2. We can call a convention of the states, trusting it will behave properly to reassert the intent of the constitution, the rule of law and individual liberty.

I believe the choice is clear. A convention of states is the safest way we can preserve our liberty. That group of similar people to our founders is yet to be named. 2/3rds to call a convention of states, 3/4ths to pass anything that comes out of it. Better question: who should pay for backbone and "last mile" upgrades?

"Net neutrality" shields the content providers from responsibility for bandwidth upgrades and forces the ISPs to charge *all* their customers higher prices whether or not they subscribe to the content providers clogging up the pathways--and *everybody* experiences the spinning hour glass as the ISPs try to keep up.

The pipes are owned by the ISPs and therefore it is their responsibility to pay for maintenance costs and upgrades. Content providers are merely providing content to people that want it. The way it works is that customers pay an ISP to access a Content Provider's content. If ISPs charge Content Providers too, ISPs are getting away with charging both Content Providers and Customers for the same content twice.

...ISPs... it is their responsibility...

only in a socialist/marxist/communist society.

...Content providers are merely providing content to people that want it. ...

No, they are charging for their content.

"Net neutrality" forces ISPs to provide a free service to the content providers which support the content providers' profit.

In what universe is that fair?

...unless we are succumbing to a socialist/marxist/communist form of government which dictates what businesses can do and how much they can charge. ...thus leading to rationed service. Everybody gets the same crappy internet service... [sarcasm]ya, that's fair.[/sarcasm]

There're dozens of things here in the U.S. you can't do unless you show an ID card. You don't need an "ID card" in the UK to do anything, but you need to show "YOUR PAPERS" for many things.
