This applies for all the platforms -- how about showing the accumulated debt (LT and ST) on the project tab??? I've been crunching for years and especially with 6 projects it is a pain to go digging into the files for each project to see how much debt has built up. It would be nice to if the BOINC programmers could just add too more columns and show us the debt numbers. Comments??

4) Questions and Answers : Macintosh : Seti@hom Enhanced is not available for your type of computer ?? (Message 786053)

I started receiving this message as well on my PPC Mac (Dual 1.25GHZ G4). I'm running BOINC 5.10.20 on OSX 10.4.11, I havent done any updates to the system recently. And my Intel Mac is not getting this message. I also think this is a change on the Berkeley end.

Ok just got home and check how my machines were doing and now my Intel Mac is doing it too...
I dont run optimized apps so I dont have the app_info "problem". So I am going to wait until Matt and the rest of the Berkeley crew get the scheduler fixed since that appears to be the problem until Matt or someone announces otherwise. My machines still have plenty of workunits from other projects to work on.

Happy crunching everyone!!

Upgraded BOINC this weekend to 5.8.16 and ever since I'e been getting the following error whenever SETI updates...

5/21/2007 6:01:09 PM||Host location: home
5/21/2007 6:01:09 PM||General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults
5/21/2007 6:01:45 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
5/21/2007 6:01:45 PM|SETI@home|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)
5/21/2007 6:02:00 PM|SETI@home|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509]
5/21/2007 6:02:00 PM|SETI@home|You used the wrong URL for this project
5/21/2007 6:02:00 PM|SETI@home|The correct URL is http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/
5/21/2007 6:02:00 PM|SETI@home|Using the wrong URL can cause problems in some cases.
5/21/2007 6:02:00 PM|SETI@home|When convenient, detach this project, then reattach to http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/
5/21/2007 6:02:00 PM|SETI@home|Deferring communication for 11 sec

Does anyone have an idea on how to check what the URL is set for and how to change it without detaching... I'd rather not detach if I dont have too...

Thanks

Matt:

I've had enough..

Your Round-Robin DNS doesn't work (.16 isn't responding to pings... is there a machine there? .17 does, but the client won't connect to it.)

Your "ghost WU scripts"... making it look like some machines have more work than they really do.. Nice touch.

"No new work".. so you have to take off the optimized apps in order to get new work, which causes a version change so all the WUs get dumped when you switch back to optimized after getting work..

If you REALLY want to alienate your volunteers, that's fine. You've succeeded. Take my 1.7Million "credits"... and watch my RAC fall to Zero.. I'm switching to Einstein and ABC until someone solves the cranial-rectal inversion over there, and puts someone in place who will do the job (instead of worrying about "gigs"...)

Detaching everything from SETI after I hit post...

I think someone needs a "timeout". <grin> Me I've been crunching Einstein and ABC and I've only turned Seti back on, on two of my machines and I've started crunching on ClimatePrediction again on one of those. I figure around Thursday of Friday I'll let Seti run on all three of my machines and go from there. All in all given the budget and time constraints, Matt and the crew have done a great job dealing with this outage.

By the by, for those of you wondering what to do until the new servers are up and running, there are a number of BOINC projects that could use some help. On the BOINC main page there is a link to some of the other projects available (there are 20 others listed). So if you've a mind to, by all means run other projects. Myself, I have Einstein and Rosetta keeping my box occupied...

Another good idea for those who like myself havent updated the BOINC core software in a while is to upgrade to the newer version... I'm still running 5.2.13 on my two XP machines and my G4 Powermac. I told all my projects on Sat to not download any new work and tomorrow once a couple Einstein and some ABC WU's finish processing I'm upgrading BOINC. Just an idea for those like me process and forget... :)

13) Questions and Answers : Windows : Bug in seti app (Message 9062)
Posted 17 Jul 2004 by Profile Matt Lowe
Post:
This is a bug in Seti@Home-MapView, apparantly from what I have found out the only way to resolve the problem at the moment is to delete the log entry from the csv file. A fix is supposedly being worked on that will prevent this in the future.
14) Questions and Answers : Windows : To completion time = Berkeley servers cannot cope (Message 7466)
Posted 14 Jul 2004 by Profile Matt Lowe
Post:
The other problem is now I also dont have any work units to work this evening because BOINC said I had enough work for 36 hrs when I had about 7 hrs worth of work so now my computer is sitting idle. And no I dont want to subscribe to the Predictor project -- I joined SETI - I might join Astropulse when it become available. Since this completion "situation" has been around for a few days I had hope that by now it would of been resolved - guess not... so for the guys at Berkely -- ADD ANOTHER SPLITTER!!! and grab some Comp Sci geeks and have them help fix your problems!!

15) Questions and Answers : Macintosh : Is there going to be a UC Berkely released version for 10.2.8? (Message 6169)
Posted 10 Jul 2004 by Profile Matt Lowe
Post:
I wondering, is there going to be a BOINC version for 10.2.8? If not how about telling us so we can either download and compile for ourselves or finding other projects to run. I would prefer to run SETI on my Mac especially since I have been running Classic SETI for several years now and believe in the project. SO HOW ABOUT SOME NEWS!!!!!
