Yup, I'll be posting in the 12 year thread in 17 days, but I missed this one, so here I am. Congrats to all who have been crunching non-stop (as I have) since the day you signed up. Somewhere out there, answers to our questions wait to be found.

I'm not sure you can really put a price on finding the discovery that will render the major faiths moot, and finally make people realize that we do really have almost everything in common - thus treating others a whole lot better!

So, I acquired a barely used but still retired Power Mac G5 Quad 2.5 today. I wiped it, and restored from the Time Machine backup of my iMac G5.

Upon finishing, BOINC loaded up, and voila - 4 work units are running at once. So far it seems to be doing each unit in about 2 hours.

Seems fitting that after 10 years of plugging away with just one processor in one Mac, that the 2nd decade should begin this way. :)

I must now stop watching BOINC seti work units and return to sleeping.

Ok, that is good to know. I just got Alex's v.8 up and running, now have to install your AP app, right? I was having trouble before...I could not figure out where I had to change the Owner info, cause when I do Get Info, the only thing is the 'Sharing and Permissions'. Changing those to Read/Write - is that what I have to do? Just the two files, the app.info and the actual app itself, correct?

Sorry, not so good at this stuff, just been running the stock, then opt apps all these years.

Bummer! Was thinking, as I have been churning through Seti units at around 3 hours lately that even if those AP units took 30 times longer I'd still be way under the 30 day window. Alas, will keep running the old ones til a new Mac shows up.

I am running the S@H Enhanced 5.28 (Mac PPC). Been chugging along now for a few days with a fresh install. If I have not seen any AP units show up, is it safe to assume my Mac is determined to be too slow? As I understand it, if we are running the stock seti app (as I am), it would automatically give us the AP app and units if we could run them. We only have to do those installs ourselves if running an optimized app, correct?

so after messing up the install of the app.info.xml bit to upgrade my (Mac ppc) enhanced client, i trashed everything and started over. wow, i was still using version 5.x of BOINC and the blue B icon is gone!

anyhow, now back up and running with what is the standard app (setiathome advanced 5.28). the Mac is crunching the seti units at 1-3.5 hours or so, as it has been doing for some time. now i see a new work unit is projected to take 8+ hours and has an august 24th reporting date. might that be an Astropulse work unit???

here it is:

Task ID 942373607
Name 17jn08ae.4159.117659.3.8.148_1
