Summer Competition for our team members - so join us
(Message 589002)
Posted 19 Jun 2007 by Kirsten Post: Our team is BOINC@Denmark. Most members are Danish, but actually there are members from about nine or ten countries. Our website is in English and Danish. We have a couple of competitions every year. It is all about which member makes the largest progress in recent average credit during a period of four weeks. We have just started our Summer Competition June 18. It runs till July 15 and any member joining our team before then has the possibility of winning products from the SETI@home store. Read more about the competition on the website front page and in this forum thread So join the BOINC@Denmark team now. The sooner you join the team the better are your chances of winning the comp. See the Top20 comp stats as of today. They are based on our hourly updated SETI stats. They again are based on the team's email list in xml format. |

(Message 574272)
Posted 23 May 2007 by Kirsten Post: Inconclusive, but I think panic over. In spite of the many earlier messages about internal server error, app_info disabled, I got loads and loads of new work today May 23rd at appr. 8:45 UTC -2. Just for a testing purpose it remains to be seen if the new work - all version 5.15 - will be crunched with the optimized app although it is not enabled. I use BOINC development version 5.9.11 (which is a real improvement IMO). |

I now see, that there was only created ghosts when the optimized app was enabled. So I better disable the opt. app, then. Calling all Team Captains
(Message 572209)
Posted 20 May 2007 by Kirsten Post: Advise to team captains. I assure you it is worth the trouble to follow my example, as it benefits the team (credits) and ease team member frustrations. In my guidance to BOINC@Denmark's team members, I have more or less translated Richard Hazelgrove's original recipe into Danish. I offer two solutions, though: 1) a rather easy one, that simply deactivates the optimized application and 2) a more complicated one, according to Richard's recipe made a little more user friendly. In my original page on optimization, I warn people that they should not optimize unless they know what they are doing and that everything they do is at their own risk. (IMO it is more important that SETI members feel safe and confident while they are crunching for the benefit of the project than to talk people into something they do not fully understand just to satisfy their founder's (my) ambitions on behalf of the team.) I have also added two rather detailed explanations in the forum about the two IMO major error messages, namely the 1. HTTP internal server error and the 2. Incomplete request received. Furthermore, I very early in The Biggest SETI Outage Ever recommended alternative BOINC projects to switch to. It is all about the team members' temperament whether they do one or the other thing. For my team the above has paid off, as the team has increased its RAC fast. |
