61) Questions and Answers : Web site : Date and Time of every post? (Message 1375340)

Post:
I don't see date and time of each post.
So I can't evaluate if the post I find (with search, for example, or in long theads) is a recent or older one.

As I can see a lot of buttons are wrong translated.
For example "repy quoting" is "leave team". In Italian, of course !!!
This is not the only one.
I suggest to control all translations
Thanks

answer to claggy 1375285

1) clear
2) I have renamed app_inf in two hosts (one yesterday [6334665] and the other hours ago [5381180]) reverting to stock but no V7 at all. Only V6 of different types. Of course I have restard Boinc and reset project. Preferences are "SETI@home v7: yes". I usually walk step by step. If something works I extend to all hosts. I' still waitng to know if I have only to wait or if I have some mistake.
3)for CPU max can be all CPUS, for GPUS it depends from GPU type. I known which GPU is able to run 1 or 2 task, with the previous lunatics apps. I think it should be the same with new one, correct? Does exist some page showing us how to write a good app_config.xml?

I repeat here part of a discussion started in the news forum

1) All the Stock v7 GPU apps are Lunatics apps now!
2) You did go and enable 'SETI@home v7: yes' in your project preferences didn't you?
3) No, you copy and paste it from one of the posts in Number Crunching, and edit it to your requirements.

1: great! But Only GPU? Why not CPU Too? Sooner or Later?
2: NO, I didn't. Now I've done it on project page and I'v done "update" on the host 25 min ago. Nothing, untill now. Have I to reset again or have I only to wait?
3: What do you mean with (mine) requirements?

I have found this:

Make a new text file named app_config.xml and have this in the contents

<app_config>
<app>
<name>setiathome_v7</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.04</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

and this

<app_config>
<app> <name>setiathome_enhanced</name>
<max_concurrent>6</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.04</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

... ad many others ....
Where can I find instructions to build different files?

As I understand I will have V6 and V7, both GPU and CPU.
On some Hosts I run only one GPU task, on three ones I run two.

Thanks in advance for any clear answer

Sorry but I have to bump my message.
There are too many silly discussions and flames about "cars".
Forum should be left clean for important and tecnical info.

Remove your app_info, Restart Boinc and reset the project, the project will send you the new applications.

I've done it and I've received only Astropulse_V6 6.01 for CPU and 04 for CUDA (standard apps).
I don't see any new app_info
Questions:
1) lunatics apps are dead? Forever?
2) When I will receive V7?
3) For config file in order to run multiple CUDA, have I to write it by hand?

Thanks in advance

As soon I had tried to run two instance of GPU task on a new GT 640 (driver 301.42) using count 0.5 I get 80 instance of GPU running and I had to deinstall adnd reinstall everithing. Other hosts, with older GTX cards, are also abbe to run two instances.

Ok, I was thinking the same thing.
But later I have noticed that "black screen and restart" is appening every time I suspend work using Boinc icon in the appliction bar (suspend all or suspend GPU). As I restart, after some seconds I get the problem. Some times even if I exit from boinc and restart it. Seconds, I think, are the ones necessary to prepare the data for GPU and send data to it.
I stop GPU because when I use my PC with a VOIP application, sound is not good (I listen good but my interlocutor doesn't) and I have seen that if I stop BOINC (or olny GPU) the sond is good. As I restart the GPU task, I get the "black screen and restart". And at restart I get a new stop. I never have this in orher situations. I see that if PC is autorestartng (after maintenance) I don't have problems.
So I think that can be something in the suspend/restart in the 7.0.25 version

Happy end? I hope.
Everything is running fine. CPU and GPU too.
Maybe it was something about task "01jl10ac.26305.8251.13.10.90" and "295.73 drivers" with optimized apps.

I don't know if someone is able to replicate what happening (same card, same driver, same pgms, same task) but if someone is having similar problems, he can try to updaate NVIDIA Drivers.

0) I'm running seti@home since 2000, as you can see
1) it's the firts time I see what I' tryng to explain now

I'he got an infinite loop of "black screen and restart".
I have seen that PC hang and restart happens some minutes after restart.
So I had some time to try something.
I have tried to stop boinc (exiting as soon as it starts)
This is working.
PC continue to work and doesn't restart any more.
So this was a strong suggestion to someting connecterd with seti (the only one project I run)
As I see boinc running, I have to wait some seconds in orded to see next hang, so my olny two neurons told me that may be it was something about GPU.
In this moment Boinc is stopped so I can write you.
later I will do some test but I prefere to wrte someting now, just to help you in helping me (and perhaps also other cruncers).

Completed work is reported at the first of:

1) 24 hours before deadline.
2) Connect Every X before deadline.
3) 24 hours after task completion.
4) Immediately if the upload completes later than either 1, 2, or 3 upon completion of the task.
5) On a trickle up message.
6) On a trickle down request.
7) On a server scheduled connection. Used, but I am not certain by which project.
8) On a request for new work.
9) When the user pushes the update button.
10) On a request from an account manager.
11) Report immediately every task, if "No new Task" is set.
12) Report immediately if CPU or network time-of-day override starts in the next 30 minutes. (BOINC 7.0)
13) When minimum work buffer is reached. (BOINC 7.0)

I think that an other point can be as soon as a "high task priority" is uploaded.

2) there are 256,832 results ready to send
3) my hosts have the max of results to crunch
4) I don't have any transfer pending

So this is the ideal condition. :-)
Of course if it is so for everyone!

Is it so?
