Hi,

Due to a power supply glitch traced to a faulty plug one of my hosts 6081636 did a rather painful series of uncontrolled re-boots.
This has resulted in 100 tasks being aborted.
Sorry if you're caught up in it's aftermath and have to wait for a resend to get your credits.

Ah,

Explains a lot, it did decide to re-boot after a windows update and I did have a benchmark time out due to the thing being in the middle of backup cycle verification (very CPU intensive). Thanks to the both of you for striking the match of enlightenment.

Hello All,

On my Pentium M laptop I'm getting the following message....

13/09/2006 17:05:26|SETI@home|Requesting 429761 seconds of new work
13/09/2006 17:05:31|SETI@home|Scheduler request succeeded
13/09/2006 17:05:31|SETI@home|Message from server: No work sent
13/09/2006 17:05:31|SETI@home|Message from server: (won't finish in time) Computer on 51.0% of time, BOINC on 99.3% of that, this project gets 100.0% of that

All was fine before the outage at the weekend I would have a queue of about 5 to 6 work units now it won't go any higher than one!

Any clues?

As an addendum:

It's just downloaded a new work unit and it's reporting a time to completion of 600:15:30 which is going down by about 5 minutes evey second.... what??? the blazzers is going on???

Mike et al,

I thought of that and nope, it's not the actual processing, it's quite happy to chomp through 5 work units on the bog standard client and app on one battery charge however that's with network activity switched off... As I can't switch of network with the optimized client it reaches just 2 1/2 work units before the battery gives out and this seams to be caused by the 10 or so attemps to connect with the nonexistant network connection. Hence the need to find a way to switch it off.

Help.....

I'm using a laptop, which was until recently was using the excellent Truxoft BOINC Core Client and Crunch3r on SETI@Home. The reason why I'm not now is that I couldn't keep up with the battery drain, why, well I couldn't seem to switch off network activity which you can with the out of the box version of the client / app. Can anyone suggest a way round this as the web sites seem to have a parm for everything but network activity.

Many thanks in advance.

P.S. The General Pref: Use network only between the hours of hh:mm and hh:mm doesn't seem to work either.

May seem like a daft question but....

Can you kill a SIM card by putting it into a phone it's designed / setup for? Not that I have yet, but gone for a good deal on a V3 and would like to use my pay-as-you-go SIM card...

Any advice would be welcome.

I've an idea, just for fun, from what I've read on another thread, of the SETI@HOME clients running ~49% of them are in the US of A, now if those good people were to switch off all their PC's then the pressure on the servers would be reduced to almost zero enabliong the getting of some uploads and downloads through, we'll send them an e-mail when you can switch back on......

Which came first?

The Past

The Present

or

The Future

Anyone have a good argument for any of the above?
