[/quote]If you want to help Seti along for the time being why don't you run Beta ? You'll still be crunching signals and it's for the good of the future of this system...

Where does one find this Beta?

I DL'ed the: Raistmer's_opt_package_V7_VLAR_kill.rar, there was that one, and Raistmer's_opt_package_V7.rar. Can I just insert my old xml file into the new one and run AP + MB on my CPU's?

Thank you for that response. I DL'ed the Raistmer package and added it to the SETI folder. Now my tasks screen is very different. It is running: setiathome_enhanced 6.08 (cuda), and the status is: Running (0.04 CPUs, 1 CUDA)
Does that look right? It seems to only be running 1 task. Also, I don't see any AP's running, because there is no APv5 in the xml file. Is there an APv5 app for CUDA?

I've read many posts, and it seems people can see what the GPU is running, I can't. I have an i7 system, with a 9800GT. BOINC shows 8 tasks running. I am running 6.6.20 and Vista 64. I have edited my xml to run AP and MB, the lunatics SSE3 for AP and SSE4.1 for MB. The CPU is running both AP & MB. What else do I need to do? Thanks.

OK, I have a bunch of old AMD Athalons that support both MMX and SSE, which should I install?

Thanks for the info on restarting threads, I will research that...as for the 6.0, I dont understand why that result is showing that...if I do a 'help', 'about BOINC' I get 5.1.30. I dont know where the 6.1 is coming from. I only DL from the main setup/download site. An enigma in a conundrum!

I have stopped/started BOINC, rebooted, etc, even detached and reattached to project, with no help. BOINC 6.1.0? I am running 5.1.28 and 5.1.30. I am running an optimized app, but have been for months with no problems. Any other suggestions?

I started having a problem on several machines a few days ago, they will get a new WU, say it is running, but no work will be occuring. I can abort the unit, and the new one will usally start working. Sometimes not, and I have to abort more than one. Some of these are 4 core machines, they will run 1,2,or 3, but the remainder just sit there in the running or running high priority state with no progress actually occuring. Very aggrevating. Is this happening to anyone else?

After much reading and fumbling around I decided to ask some 'stupid' questions.
1) Which optimized app is the fastest for a given platform?
2) If I have AMD chips running both MMX and SSE, which app do I install?
Thanks in advance!
10) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Running BOINC as a service (Message 714878)

Post:
I'm running 2000 Server and I want to avoid having to hit 'return' at the logon screen everytime the machine reboots. I have multiple machines at different locations, so this is a problem. Will installing BOINC as a service eliminate this? I tried doing this on one install, but was unable to tell if it was running or not without logging on. I guess I could have waited a couple of hours to see if the task progress had progressed, but too impatient.

Thanks for all the info...after looking closer I find the Q6600 has a FSB of 1066, but the motherboatd I installed it on only has an 800Mhz FSB. I'm screwed, right?

I am building dedicated SETI units, with minimal memory. I understand the amount of memory is not critical if the unit is only running SETI. Would it be better to split the memory into two modules for interveaving purposes, and would this decrease latency?

I am building dedicated units to run SETI and was wondering which processor gives the highest RAC/$. Also, is the amount of memory important? My best unit so far is a Q6600 w 512MB, running about 1900 RAC. I paid $277 for the processor, but I see other people getting better results with the less expensive quad Zeons. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
