Posted 15 days ago by Wiggo Post: Congrats again Vic. Anyhow I'm just taking a cool down break as the temp hits a muggy 21C, but I did get the watering done, the last compost bay lined with cardboard and uncovered 20m of concrete edges manually which already has me with over half a wheelbarrow load of grass for the current compost bay to enjoy (and my back could do with a rest as well). Cheers. |

Posted 15 days ago by Wiggo Post: I think that I'll wait a little longer before I go outside just yet as after a 12C (felt like 10C) start here it's only just hit 15C with 29C being expected today. My plan for this morning, after watering the veggies, is to rediscover some concrete edges around the backyard, seeing as the ground should be dry enough now for the edger to work properly, as I don't really feel up to swinging a line trimmer or pushing a mower around just yet, though my spine is working a lot better today. Anyhow I'll get another coffee in before heading out. Cheers. |

Global life expectancy fell by 1.6 years during the COVID-19 pandemic but Australia bucked the trend, study finds. And to think if SloMo had acted 3-4 weeks earlier, like he was asked too, we could've done even better. If you go to the linked article and download the PDF be prepared to rotate the pages back and forth at times, but I did find a curiosity with the map on page 24 (boy did the U.S. really buck the trend for a high SDI country). |

Hundreds of PwC Australia staff have lost their jobs as part of widespread cuts made within the firm. PwC Australia staff have been told 366 jobs will be axed as part of widespread cuts announced within the firm on Wednesday. |

Posted 16 days ago by Wiggo Post: What it really boils down to is American corporate and stock market driven greed that seems to be effecting almost everything everywhere else these days. Why should a 10% year on year profit be the benchmark when a 4-5% is more than enough to exist on? You won't get either through a standard bank savings account these days and that's for sure. And some economists would really like to see that benchmark figure cut to an even more realistic like 3-4%. Save a buck here to make at least 10 now and we'll worry about the consequences later seems to be the motto these days. |

Posted 16 days ago by Wiggo Post: After 8hrs with an hour of that out in the sun cutting and grinding pieces of 3/16" plate into what I need I;m ready for a few beers, once I hobble up the pub, and I might even have a feed while I'm there. It's now 20C (feels like 18C) here, but it felt more like 30C on the concrete in front of the shed. P.S. I did get the veggies watered just before I started cutting away. Cheers. |

US Coast Guard using Hobart as a home port mentioned as 'emerging prospect' in Tasmanian government document. After all we do need that ice to reflect heat away from the planet so do we really need more of them? |

Well I just had a look outside and even Dog doesn't want to get out on that long wet grass as yet so I'll give it another hour before I go out traipsing around on it so I guess that I'll get into my metalworking gear and start setting up on the concrete at the front of the shed instead of watering veggies first. Cheers. |

Posted 16 days ago by Wiggo Post: I'm not winning on this Hump Day morning. I was up at a ridiculous 3am, couldn't get back to sleep, then found that once getting up found that I can't stand straight without pain again and at 7am I'm just about to have a 4th coffee of the morning (I'll be peeing well shortly), but I have got all my usual Hump Day domestic duties done. I was going to start taming my jungle again today, but that won't be happening as I don't want to make spinal matters any worse than they currently are so I may have a go at cutting and preparing the 3 steel plates that I need to finish another project off instead (as I won't have to stand up straight to do that). We got off to a breezy 12C (felt like 10C) start here this morning and hopefully that will start going up soon towards our expected 25C. Thankfully the forecasted heatwave that we're suppose to be having has died in the butt. Anyhow I better finish this coffee before I go and water my veggies. Cheers. |
