21) Message boards : Number crunching : REMOVE THE LIMITS (Message 1337458)

I know that but when I send wu’s every 5 mins I send the same amount of wu’s.

When I have 100 for gpu and send 20 wu’s back to server, even one wu is stack at download, the server will not send me 20 new. So I will have 80 in cache. If the same thing happen at the next 5 mins, I will go from 80 to 60 etc.

So now what. I will babysit the retry button? This is not a solution.
That's why i am out of gpu wu's.

I will say it again and again.

I just add the 0.25 command to the pc just to slow it down.

Downloads are not fast without proxy, everybody ask again and again, and with the big time outs of 7.0.28, the computer is working with Cpu only half a day.
Why don’t they listen our suggestions about the removal of limits?
If I have 1000 wu’s at my cache with 7.0.28 I will not care if the manager time out some wu’s for 5 mins or more, the Gpu’s will continue to work without problem.
Am I thinking crazy?

Thats exactly the problem, the comunication problem is worst as far your are from the lab, internet link "distances/speed" of course, so if your ISP have a fast connection with HE you work fine, for the rest of us nothing is working, this is why the proxy solution works most of the time, but the proxy admin allways kick us out due the large amount of BW we use.

All request still ends on error at my side.

That was fast... :-)

3rd day without anything from SETI.
I can’t understand how a few guys manage to have 200 tasks now.
At my account I see 127 wu’s in progress but there is nothing at the host.
Milkyway is very happy now.

Why is it so difficult to just report tasks?
Upload works fine, download works fine, so why does it take dozens of manual attempts to report finished(and uploaded)tasks?

You must be thankful that you are downloading wu’s.

Many of us, download nothing.

Just wait until the problems of seti solved.

Just went back to Milkyway. Download speed 500kbps.

I can’t even saw the downloads. My cash is full at less than a minute.

If no one can connect to server, who uses all the bandwidth?

I am not an expert but I cannot deal with the fact that we have a database issue for so long and it isn’t finish yet.
Other projects have the same problems with database?

Someone must kick a machine maybe at the lab, and PLEASE RAISE THE LIMITS.

100+100 is ridiculous. At times like that, all the machines are going to sleep. Give us 1000 for Gpu and 100 for Cpu.

Just an idea… Maybe they feed us with many wu’s , but BOINC , will not connect every 5 minutes , but every 10, or 15.
By that way we will not use the bandwidth so often, so many computers, because uploads are much smaller than the downloads, even if we must have to upload 50, 100 at a time.

Stuck Astropulse V6

have ap-28mr10aa-b2-p1-00211-2012059-14928 sitting on page since 26 Jun 2012.
2 computers are validated and one pending.
Is there something I need to do to remove this or is it lost?

Just wait and wait and wait and…..

I have a stuck wu since Aug. 2010 :-)

I am thinking… is it worth to crunch Astropulse for credit?

I had an avg. credit of 127,100.00, I finish an Astropulse task with credit 659,37 , but I earn only 100 going to 127,201.29. Where are the rest?

Will the system give the rest credit later?

Tim

They are part of the AVERAGE. You will see the 659 as a number only as an addition to your total credit. It takes a long time for you RAC average to rise.

I see...After that wu, I had a AP wu with credit 1,051.75.I should go 128+ but still 127+ .

Noop.

I wrote down the credit before, and after i send the AP wu, just to be sure.

Yes, I know I might expect problems, but I won't hesitate even a second to try to build it :) It 8 GPUs, Win7 supports 8, there are machines running SETI with same number of GPUs, even you have one I see.
I myself had machine with 4 GT240s. There were problems too, but adding cards one by one did the trick.

Be aware…

It is not the same thing.
The difficulty is to add 8 vgas, and not 4 dual gpu cards like 295, 590, 690.

I would buy MSI Big Bang-Marshal. Yesterday there were two of these on Amazon for 360 CDN a piece. Then fill all eight slots with these slim bitches:
http://www.techpowerup.com/179080/Colorful-Announces-iGame-GeForce-GTX-650-Ti-Single-Slot-Graphics-Card.html. Equip it, I would, with some 2-cores, 4-threads processor(pick one, my personal favorite is i3-3220 or i3-3225) and thats it.
If deviation from average price of 650Ti is not that big, then 8 of these cards would cost like single GTX 690 or somewhere there. Such system would produce 100K+ RAC(mostly like 120K) a day, for 550-600W total power consumption.
Of course, there are other choices of motherboard. PCIe x1 slots can be modified to accept x16 video cards(made it for bitcoin miner machine) on some cheap boards, no matter what brand and platform it is. Most important, now there are most energy effective cards in single slot variant available(or available soon I hope).

Did you ever try to set up a pc with 8 vga?
It is very VERY difficult.
Once upon a time here at the office we setup a machine with seven GTX 285 for rendering purposes ( not SETI ) but it was extremely difficult. There where blue screens, no boots,
driver limitations at that time etc.

It is only for 4x dual-slot GPU. :-(

I'm letting it "bed in" with what I've got.
I was about to download x41zc when they got pulled from the Lunatics site :-(

(Has anyone got a prognosis on when they will be restarting distributing their wares again??)

Don’t go to Lunatics.

Claggy provide you the link to Jason site. Go to downloads and… there it is.
