Hi all

Can anyone tell me how we would go about getting our website listed on the SETI@Home websites page? Also there are a lot of outdated links there that should be tidied.

Regards

As a matter of interest I was looking through some other SETI@Home teams CPU breakdown to see what is being used to process work units and found a CPU which only has 2 cores being repoted to having 21 cores! Not sure how this is possible. In the following image check the second unit listed.http://boincstats.com/en/stats/0/host/breakdown/cpu/113799

Now the CPU specs. http://ark.intel.com/products/41495/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E7600-3M-Cache-3_06-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB. Anyone got any ideas on this?

Just browsing back through a couple of old posts, I noticed that I now have the title "Volunteer Tester"! How did I manage that?

V7 should have downloaded automatically in the background and updated itself! Mine certainly did. Have you checked in the "About BOINC Manager" in the help menu? I had similar issues in the past and all I could do was to abort all current tasks and reinstall BOINC after a full restart.

it would be nice if there was a list readily available for Cuda problems and solutions to hand Richard. Will there be a time when one is available or is this asking too much?

Again, the weekend is a tricky time to organise that, but it sounds like a good idea. I'll see if I can round up the usual suspects on Monday. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think it would save you guys a hell of a lot of time answering questions like this :)

I have it enabled and have found it using 0.04 CPU and 1 GPU. Which has not changed from previous. I also have team members who are asking if there is an installation guide available.

Thanks guys that's exactly what I thought. I am now downloading the 0.41 update and hopefully get V7 working fully. One question before I install the New 0.41 which Nvidia option do you think I should set mine to as I am running a GT640 which is a Kepler chipset?

before I ask, I have seen a number of posts covering app_info.xml, but none of them seem to answer why it's missing from the the installation. On my event log I get the error message "07/06/2013 13:21:31 | SETI@home | Message from server: Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usable version of SETI@home v7." Could anyone answer for me how to correct this and answer, why it's missing in the first place.

Thanks

I wish people would stop bitching about no work units being available over the maintenance period. Without volunteers and volunteer or corporate funding the project would not exist. The volunteers at the centre do a great job and are to be commended for their dedication. We all know we have to maintain servers and equipment to progress and as SETI@Home is such a huge project the servers and equipment need lots of constant attention.

Well done all..

14) Message boards : Number crunching : Correct Lunatic's Settings for AMD HD5450 (Message 1205256)
Posted 870 days ago by Profile Peter Cook
Once I started up the PC this morning all worked ok, so the issue I had was originally with the first install whereby once updated automatically it caused a problem with any re-install of the drivers and OpenCL, where it disabled it on any future restart! I cured this by deleting the current driver then running the app Msicuu2 which basically removes any corrupt installations totally from the system. Once this has been done reinstall the required driver and there you go all up and running without any issues!

I hope that helps anyone else having a similar issue! Unfortunately I cannot remember where I downloaded the file from but you can get it here http://www.filecluster.com/downloads/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.html If I come up against anymore issues like this with this card I will post it here!

HAL lol, you're a bit of an AMD/ATI dinosaur then :) Seems strange that they cannot get their act together like Nvidia! Especially as they are now made by AMD.

Thanks Sten but I am not 100% confident in the AMD card as they seem to lack a little something and AMD seem to always mess up their drivers! Nvidia don't seem to have a problem like AMD does. I of course may change my mind upon the results etc.

I have cold rebooted a few times with no loss, so hopefully this will work! The major test is an overnight shutdown.

I have been looking through the web and found that people do have a problem with this happening. So I ran a program that removes the install information (after un-installation) to remove any pointers to corrupt files and settings! This seemed to do the trick! I am now testing the PC again for any further defective drivers and OPenCL problems! I did notice that ATI have released an openCL update which is on the Lunatics website so if this fails again I will try using that version instead.

Incidentally, I am running Lunatics as mentioned in my earlier posts, which should not work but does as using any other settings fail. I am keeping everything I can cross crossed!
