1) Message boards : News : Servers are back on line after Monday's outage (Message 1323633)

I wish people would stop bitching about no work units being available over the maintenance period. Without volunteers and volunteer or corporate funding the project would not exist. The volunteers at the centre do a great job and are to be commended for their dedication. We all know we have to maintain servers and equipment to progress and as SETI@Home is such a huge project the servers and equipment need lots of constant attention.

Well done all..

Once I started up the PC this morning all worked ok, so the issue I had was originally with the first install whereby once updated automatically it caused a problem with any re-install of the drivers and OpenCL, where it disabled it on any future restart! I cured this by deleting the current driver then running the app Msicuu2 which basically removes any corrupt installations totally from the system. Once this has been done reinstall the required driver and there you go all up and running without any issues!

I hope that helps anyone else having a similar issue! Unfortunately I cannot remember where I downloaded the file from but you can get it here http://www.filecluster.com/downloads/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.html If I come up against anymore issues like this with this card I will post it here!

HAL lol, you're a bit of an AMD/ATI dinosaur then :) Seems strange that they cannot get their act together like Nvidia! Especially as they are now made by AMD.

Thanks Sten but I am not 100% confident in the AMD card as they seem to lack a little something and AMD seem to always mess up their drivers! Nvidia don't seem to have a problem like AMD does. I of course may change my mind upon the results etc.

I have cold rebooted a few times with no loss, so hopefully this will work! The major test is an overnight shutdown.

I have been looking through the web and found that people do have a problem with this happening. So I ran a program that removes the install information (after un-installation) to remove any pointers to corrupt files and settings! This seemed to do the trick! I am now testing the PC again for any further defective drivers and OPenCL problems! I did notice that ATI have released an openCL update which is on the Lunatics website so if this fails again I will try using that version instead.

Incidentally, I am running Lunatics as mentioned in my earlier posts, which should not work but does as using any other settings fail. I am keeping everything I can cross crossed!

Claggy

I have just noticed that you seem to be running 2 different GPU's in your system! http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/hosts_user.php?userid=35858 Do they work ok together or are you just running one unit and the other was an older card?

I find it a strange one, if it continues to report successes and the other settings fail I will reset it to work in this manner.

Looking through clinfo the card's work units are 128 but if I use the settings you suggest for <256 Boinc doesn't register a GPU, but using on the settings in the image works! I will leave it to run and see how it goes from here!

I would like to thank you all for your input.
