Mikeworld is for sale, I downloaded the new 0.45b6 Lunatics file from arkayn's site instead.

Never paid anything there. Anyway DL from Arkayn site is fine too.

I went there, the domain is for sale at Mikeworld, there are no files there, unless the link is bad and I wound up in an alternet universe, so I dled from Arkayn after learning that.

I have not seen the "you don't have a valid version of V8" show since 10:34am, it's now 10:57am, so I think the problem is resolved, I deleted the old Lunatics 0.45b6 zip file from 2016 too.

All three sites have the newest installer now, Mikes, Lunatics and my site.

You need to get the latest Lunatics installer from
Mike's World
and go back through the installer choices and choose the MB SoG app which is the current fastest app for Windows and modern hardware.

Both Lunatics and my site also have the newest installer now.

We do have Richard on our side and long term posters such as he and I that are not giving up. But it is galling when Eric says that we need more computing power, and it is likely that if we sorted out this credit business we could get it!!

Yep, crunch 8 minutes here and receive, maybe 100 points. Crunch another project 8 minutes and receive 1000, 10000, or 20000.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm............

Hi
I have upgraded my boinc engine.
Unfortunately the new version did not resume the running task of the older version
How come ?
Moreover it created a new computer id. But when I asked to merge the 2 identical named computer it says there is no other computer to merge with ...
details says incompatible cpu
GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz
vs
GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz [Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7]
Actually same computer, only Boinc vesion changed

Any help to resume the running tasks from the old version ?
Thanks

Did you use a different folder location for your BOINC data folder on the old version?

It sounds like it just did use the old folder.

Web site & forums barley working; missing more often than not. And when they are up, forum response is super slow- at best.
Add to that Scheduler responses are getting more erratic.

22/08/2017 14:44:52 | SETI@home | Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server
22/08/2017 14:47:38 | SETI@home | Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

Not seeing any problems on my end, but I am a lot closer to the server than you.

Can anyone please assist me with this one:

8/21/2017 1:40:57 PM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 1 (not used): GeForce GTX 560 Ti (driver version 384.76, CUDA version 9.0, compute capability 2.1, 1024MB, 804MB available, 1306 GFLOPS peak)
8/21/2017 1:40:57 PM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 980 (driver version 384.76, device version OpenCL 1.2 CUDA, 4096MB, 3378MB available, 5288 GFLOPS peak)
8/21/2017 1:40:57 PM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 1 (ignored by config): GeForce GTX 560 Ti (driver version 384.76, device version OpenCL 1.1 CUDA, 1024MB, 804MB available, 1306 GFLOPS peak)

cc_config.xml with this will fix it.

<cc_config>
    <log_flags>
        <file_xfer>1</file_xfer>
        <sched_ops>1</sched_ops>
        <task>1</task>
    </log_flags>
    <options>
        <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
    </options>
</cc_config>

If you already have a cc_config, just find that option and change the 0 to a 1

Just sent you one.

Refresh this screen, top right corner- does it show "You have 1 unread message" (or similar)?
Click on the inbox & see if there's anything there from me in the last few minutes.

There have been noises about the email notification of PMs not working, but back at the beginning of this month (last time I got a PM) it came up in my BOINC Manager notices tab, and in the top right corner of most of these forum pages that I had an unread/received a new message.

I got a reply from Jason earlier this month as well.

The problem with the images is what is causing the work to error out as well.
Go here and go to the bottom, place a checkmark into "Skip data verification for image files"
Do the same thing at BETA.

Unofficial Windows 7/8.1 update workaround posted to GitHub

GitHub user Zeffy has created a patch that removes a limitation that Microsoft imposed on users of 7th generation processors, a limit that prevents users from receiving Windows updates if they still use Windows 7 and 8.1.

This limitation was delivered through Windows Update KB4012218 (March 2017 Patch Tuesday) and has made many owners of Intel Kaby Lake and AMD Bristol Ridge CPUs very angry last week, as they weren't able to install any Windows updates.

There is a link to the GitHub scripts in the article. Use at own risk. :^)

Caveat:

"The only downside of these solutions is you have to apply a new patch whenever wuaueng.dll gets updated," says Zeffy in his GitHub repo README. Fortunately, the entire task doesn't take long to complete.

Sounds like removing KB4012218 would be a better option.

Turning off updates is the option I picked.
