Couldn't post it to the beta forums so let me use this one.

I just started crunching with the cuda50 app on beta, do i need to do anything else regarding the testing (taking notes, reporting stuff) or you get your info from some BOINC logging facilities? If I want to be useful that is...

And here is Richards release post for CUDA on Beta:
https://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/forum_thread.php?id=2266&postid=55789#55789

Notice that he says:

"First availability of Windows SETI MB v8 CUDA applications for NVidia cards.

These are for use on the BETA SITE ONLY".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
But then of course, should one want to do it anyhow, hiding ones computers would be the first step....

Hmm, Science of RAC, Science or RAC....:-)
Nuff said about that....

I hadn't seen that. I don't really have a problem not using the cuda app on main - I just was not aware of the constraints...

I tried using the OpenCL app for NV but it was just not working for me. I'll just wait for it to go to main.

It is highly recommended that Beta apps stay on beta.

I think RIchard posted something about consequences if you are caught.

So best to leave testing apps on the testing site.

I think it was about V7 app being used for V8 workunits. I've already used beta apps openly (the OpenCL one) and nobody said I should not.

Could I use the Cuda App from beta on main? If so, can someone link me to it?

Yeah, I'm at least 50k RAC down since V8 was introduced. About 17k because of a GPU only cruncher and a bunch other machines that have lunatics installed on them.

I tried the MB8_win_x86_SSE3_OpenCL_NV_r3310 app on my GTX970 but it seems to hog a CPU core as well. Any info on that?

Is there going to be a Cuda app in the near future?

This is a question that only a handful of SETI staff can actually answer but nonetheless let me post it here...

Have the Chinese been approached for installation of a piggyback device, similar to the one installed on Arecibo, for the FAST radio telescope currently under construction?

I recently plugged in this computer. It produces in my opinion an abnormal amount of invalids. Could this be diagnosed?

I'm using the optimized apps from Lunatics 0.43b installer.

I've got some new WUs with proxy 69.57.48.211:8080

This worked! On one of my machines... Unfortunately I can't do this on all my machines. I hope this gets resolved soon.

A Russian entrepreneur has launched the biggest and most expensive search for alien life ever, backed by famous scientists including Stephen Hawking and Frank Drake.

Yuri Milner, who funds a range of science prizes, has launched a $100 million project called Breakthrough Listen that will give scientists some of the most promising chances to find human life in the universe.

Just FYI, there is another, quite simple, option. I recently bumped into this as well.

Here is the solution I was pointed to.
or You can open up the .cl file in text editor and replace all occurences of bool2 with bool_2. Then file-save. Exit.

The CL file referred to is in BOINC's subfolder in ProgramData.

You shouldn't be running SETI@Home on a laptop. Period!

It's utterly wrong.
SETI@home GPU apps developed on netbook, just FYI.
Any computational device can be used provided user of device have some will to solve issues that may appear on some.

I'm not saying you can't (develop or compute). Just that you shouldn't.
