Can someone please advise, I have restarted the computer twice and still not solving the problem.

My GPU is NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT.
I also install TechPowerUp GPU-Z 0.3.5

Is there any bug issue with this new version? Or should I just simply restore previous version?

6) Questions and Answers : Windows : CPU Time is Longer, what about the credit? (Message 717629)
Posted 24 Feb 2008 by Profile Edy Susanto
Post:
I notice that CPU time is taking longer than actual mentioned in the BOINC when processing work units.

For example, just now a work unit finished with CPU time 07:47:00, but this WU was already in process for about 12 hours.

Does it means I only get credits of 07:47 hours calculation time instead of the actual time about 12 hours?

adding 60000 in the registry didn't help. shutdown time still in less than 10 seconds.

shutdown.bat however, can do the trick. so thanks guys.
hope they fix this problem in the next version of boinc as you said.

This FAQ has all you need.

the setting for "20000" is already there in the registry.
and I add the shutdown.bat .. it should be save in the c:\\ directory, right?

however, shutdown time is still quite fast, less than 10 seconds.

I have several workunits with a finished status but was reported "Client Error" and didn't get credit.

Can anyone tell me what was happening? I mean, my computer crunch workunits but no credit was granted.

Credits are only issued for valid results.

I checked two WU with Client errors and found
- exit code 1073807364 (0x40010004)
This is usually due to a graphics crash. Boinc graphic are still problematic with Vista. Many of the Vista issues will hopefully be addressed with Boinc V6.x. This version will also introduce a new method of handling graphics.

so does it means that there will be no credits at all for those workunits even that my computer have spent some time crunching?
well.. that is just too bad..

what do you suggest Aurora?

In several weeks, I see.
Well, will go with your suggestion to leave the computer on, even though now I only have 3 WUs of 6 hours completion time left.

Anyway, I'll be back if there is no progress.

Thanks OzzFan

Post:
My computer was not in operation for a month. WUs were automatically canceled because of passed dateline and there was this using "Earliest Deadline First" in the messages tab.

Since that time, even when I set "Maintain enough work for an additional" for 4 days, it won't download more WUs. Only limited to less than 10 hours of completion time.

Is there anything I should change/edit somewhere?
14) Questions and Answers : Windows : How to use and set old CPID when reinstalling BOINC (Message 629906)
Posted 31 Aug 2007 by Profile Edy Susanto
Post:
2) The host CPID. This unfortunately is going to be different on each install. You might be able to do surgery on client_state.xml and get it set to an old value.

I've looked at the client_state.xml but could not find my previous host CPID number to change to.
But anyway, there is actually an option in my account setting to merge computers. I've merge the computers.

Thanks John.

I have to reinstall BOINC in my computer, everytime I reinstall, it regenerates a new CPID. But I want to use my existing CPID because of the credits.

10/08/2007 17:36:39|SETI@home|Reason: no work from project

This is the key line to look for in the log. This means that the server got a request for work but cannot provide any work at the moment because there simply is no work to hand out.

This is also the reason why I used to set "Computer is connected to the Internet about every = 10 days" so that I could download extra WUs to be ready for my PC to crunch. And I don't have to wait (5 hours is too long for a boinc-addicted person to wait) because of no work from project.

It is such an addictive thing that I get so frustrated when my computers are in idle. And I am not considering to participate in another project. seti@home rulez!

The reason why I set to 10 days so that I could have spares of WU to process. And so far, my computers never missed the deadline. Although in reality I connect to the Internet almost every day with a dial-up.
Even with 10 days setting, last time when the big outage happened and no WU for almost 2 weeks, I was out of WUs and have to wait for almost 2 weeks as well.

And yes, I think I saw this "Using Earliest Deadline First" in my Boinc messages tab and never know what it means.

Anyway, will try the setting to 5 days.

Thanks for the information guys.

Hi all,

I set my preference:

Computer is connected to the Internet about every: 10 days.

But recently, the Boinc (5.8.16) didn't download any WU even the available WUs in my computer are running out.
Try to update, but still won't download any WU. Only download WU after Boinc finished crunching the last WU.

Server status page shows everything fine.

This happened for the second time now. Any idea why?
Thanks.

It always opens in a new window for me, so that sounds like a browser preference.
Which browser are you using?

In my Mozilla Seamonkey (probably the same options are in Firefox) preferences, Navigator, Tabbed browsing, I can set if applications and the browser should open new windows or use the present window.

*whoops*..
silly me.. case closed then.. thanks Ageless

When I click the links to Web sites within the BOINC Manager, i.e. the "SETI@home", "Message boards", "Help", "Your account", "Your preference"... etc... it always uses my last opened browser to view the link. Sometime I was in a middle of writing an email through a webmail, when I click the links, it uses this browser where I was suppose to type my mail.

Perhaps you can set it to opening the links in a new window (launching new browser).
