I was on a project to replace the manual Army Supply System with a computerised system in Australia. The only computer we had at the start of the project had those big 7 1/2 inch floppy drives and we had the latest in Dbase software. Dbase, not Dbase 1 or 2 or 3 just Dbase. By the end of the project we had hundreds of computers and we even had a form of distributed computing for ou warehousing solution. I have been working in that field ever since and I am still amased at he power of desktops compared to the past. |

Panic Mode On (5) Server Problems!

It looks like Richard Haselgrove's picture was taken just before the end of the workday - at ten-'til-four, PM. It wasn't ten-twenty AM because the hourhand would've been positioned incorrectly. It would've been dark had the PMs and AMs been reversed. I conclude that the cops would have had a happy day unless all there had drunken in moderation or had taken a bus, taxi or train home. Seti comes back up quickly usually and it is very stable. I think that the admins do a great under pressure from all of us jumping in when the first sign of work not coming to us. |

How to remove a computer
(Message 587341)
Posted 2167 days ago by Dingo
Thanks, Grant. Once there are no results left for the computer then you can delete it in the computer list after selecting the computer. Bring up he computer details that you want to delete and when there are no more results there will be a delete as well as a merge function at the bottom of the screen. |

SETI from my experience is the largest project for work out put an members crunching I think and I believe are doing a great job keeping the servers up and running. There are many projects to crunch and most are worthwhile scientifically and some are not, but the choice is still yours. I am running SETI on my 64 bit PC and will swing over some more in due course. |

The applications page says that there is a 64 bit version. Linux/x86_64 5.12 1 May 2006 22:43:19 UTC But when I try and use it on my AMD64 with Linux 64 bit and BOINC 64 bit I get the error that "Message from server: platform 'x86_64-pc-linux-gnu' not found" So I guess that you page http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/apps.php is incorrect. |

OK so most of the PC's haven't had the error since I went up to 5.8.14. But I still have two older ones that still give the error. I have un-installed 5.8.14 and gone back to 4.4.11 because I know that it worked. I will wait another day and see what happens |
