1.Ñ… is where CUDA23/cuFFT outperforms OpenCL/oclFFT with good margin...

And I'm very doubt that any hardware was donated by AMD or NV.

Do you mean OCL 1.x?

I believe he means Pre-Fermi (Compute capability 1.0 to 1.3). After Cuda 2.3 there were significant driver changes to support newer architectures and complex OS Driver models. On these (~DirextX9) GPUs with limited dedicated hardware, the more complex features become emulated from later XP drivers + Cuda 3 onwards, slowing them down (and using more VRAM)

[Edit:] Lol, only thing ever offered to me by nVidia, was an nVidia T-Shirt, as a thankyou for beta testing Cuda 6 and finding several issues. I never received it, lol.

ya i mean prefermi.

not only diffs in the driver but even coding style changed (best practise, memory organisation - coalescing in prefermi archs ... )

Have some roadmap adjustments to make for inclusion of Cuda 8 (for which I've received a request for preview), but then can fill in some of the blanks. There is a fair amount of flux coming, both from upcoming technology change, plus pre-existing plans. Taking the time to review the history of the Cuda apps (pre X-Branch and X-branch) will probably be a valuable thing to do going forwards, since the strengths versus the shortcomings come out of the history to a pretty large degree.

maybe it is time to drop some old cards (1.x) ...

yesterday builded latest rev from svn - need to add one minssing include there - for both PIs
used native in march, mcpu and mtune, hard float , fast math and fpu is neon-vfpv4 for PI 2, vfp for PI

builds are on lunatics website, use app info xml for usage.
now running successfully on mine PIs (have both of them)

ill try disable this "onboard initialization first" thing ....

(i have three HW cuda devices under W7.
on first, 9600GT i have attached monitor, on second 8500 i have set psychx and third, nv750 on board i dont see as cuda device under drivers .... so i think its a driver "problem" - maybe onboard devices are excluded from cuda list in drivers)

I'm not sure what an nv750 is, but it isn't listed here on the cuda capable list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUDA#Supported_GPUs

nforce 750i is chipset with pre-ION chips - CUDA device with 8 streams and is using a system memory

mimo, PhysX enabled for multi GPUs?
Hmm.. to now I disabled PhysX on my both PCs.

if i wanna use both (different) cards: i must have : attached two monitors or had enabled psychx on the second ...

PsychX enabled is good for multi gpu systems when u have only one monitor atached or gaming - enable it on the card that is not connected to the monitor.

It cant affect performance (if u arent playing games that uses it when crunching) because it is totally independent computational engine implemented in the drivers ...

it is known error that is removed in 6.6.37:
- client: when suspending a GPU job, always remove it from memory, even if it hasn't checkpointed. Otherwise we'll typically run another GPU job right away, and it will bomb out or revert to CPU mode because it can't allocate video RAM
