Comparing different video cards seems to me not to be a trivial GFLOPs rating comparison nor a whole memory bandwidth matter at all.

Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, the two italian Marines accused of killing Kerala's fishermen Valentine (aka Gelastine) and Ajesh Binki after allegedly mistaking them for pirates and opening fire on their fishing trawler on February 15 2012 while engaged in international anti-piracy service, have still not been charged two years after the incident took place.
There is no justice in this case. We are faced with ambiguous, unreliable behaviour on the part of the Indian authorities.

Has anyone thought about Economy and Finance into a thermodynamical perspective?

Who would design a system where the very same fluid acts as fuel, power transferring medium, reservoir matter, lubricant/coolant substance and final product?
Economists have done: Mammoney do that magic.
In this nigthmare machine energy rise from nowhere while work can be addressed to destruct itself.
Sadly none knows what kind of work the nigthmare machine is really doing: is it buying souls for the prince of world? Is it trading beauties, wishes, dreams and hopes for desperation lands?

One joule in Italy worth one watt by a couple of seconds while in Germany five hundreds milliwatts do the job in half the time; it's a new relativistic effect: energy is bending around massive public-debts.
Is it all an efficiency matter? Maybe.
Happens also a 20 euro note to appear blue in the Netherlands and gray in Italy; Credit Rating Agencies have "magic glasses" to have the trick done.
Even more prodigiously financial markets never speculate the pound, the only currency to have the very best of two worlds. It can jump on the back of the dollar or keep in touch with the euro as the wind change. It's the proud standard of the mighty financial speculation headquarters homeland.

Yes we have to cry, in Italy the insane spending habits of the Government coupled with an (relatively) inefficient economy had ignited the blaze. But international speculation has feeded the reaction. Our public-debt interest are making large groups of persons getting more and more rich: someone of them have not worked a mere hour in their life.

At the same time lot of people are feeding the Beast with their stolen earnings. Is that all a matter of efficiency?
Maybe, maybenot.

These are some Thermal and Power Specs for the carda:

GT640DDR3 98°C MaxTemp 65W Max Graphics Card Power 384CUDA cores
GT640DDR5 95°C MaxTemp 48W Max Graphics Card Power 384CUDA cores
GTX650 98°C MaxTemp 64W Max Graphics Card Power 384CUDA cores
GT650IT 105°C MaxTemp 110W Max Graphics Card Power 768CUDA cores
GT650ITBOOST 97°C MaxTemp 134W Max Graphics Card Power 768CUDA cores

I'm running 3 WU at time on the DUALCORE GTX650 rig and 4 WU on the quadcore GTX650TI one.
If You don't know how to run multiple instances on single videocard, refer to optimized client thread in this forum for.

Take care.

Look at http://www.geforce.com/hardware for various graphic cards specs.
The GTX650 1GB looks a better choice vs. the GT640: compared with the GDDR5 version the GTX650 has about the double of memory bandwidth with +30% power consumption, compared with the GT640 GDD3, the GTX650 is more power efficient.
You can find a GTX650 on the $120.00 range, I've installed a PALIT brand with satisfaction.
Dont't look for a 2GB one, it's a waste for crunching as the GTX650 is a relatively low number CUDA cores card (the same as GT640).
You need to have two 6-pins power plug adapters for having them installed in your machine and a minimum 600W PSU for the twin.
Look also at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7144422 for expected performance in a single card arrangement.
It's one of my two owned rigs I run. Mind I'm running almost exclusively AP6.
Difference with the GTX650TI can be evaluated by comparison with the other rig I'm running at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=6391954 .
Cheers.

I have a long time inactive computer still present in my host list.
It is offline because of a major hardware fault and last time it communicated with seti@home server was on 20 Jun 2013, 9:10:26 UTC.
It is listed with 2 valid tasks, the last of which was reported on 20 May 2013.
I would like to delete this inactive host but I'm currently not allowed to get it wiped out.
Is there anything I could do?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Whois search point toward hosts located in Finland. No futher informations or evidence. However WU completion timeline doesn't show any "stolen day" connection with exaggerated validated and in progress task numbers. All three ID could even point to a single machine configured in different ways for testing purposes, so no answer to the weird stolen day happening to date.

Quite weird indeed!

All 3 computers are GenuineIntel QEMU Virtual CPU version (cpu64-rhel6) [Family 6 Model 13 Stepping 3], respectively with 12, 8 and 16 processors.
The O.S. is the same for them: Linux 3.3.4-5.fc17.x86_64, and all are associated with an Anonimus user.

A strange thing happened on june the 16th.
Whole 3,900+ italian users earned a mere +188,555.50 credits compared with the usual one million and over score.
What happened then? We had no earthquake, tsunami, nuclear accident, meteor blasts, volcano eruption or widespread power blackout in Italy that day and yes, our hopeless Government was on holiday Sunday the 16th so we cannot blame them for that.
Was it all another unbelievable Credit New prodigy?

I'm not interested in deep technical analisys over the different hardware and software platforms, what I know is that some copyright issues leaded to a renowed production of optimized apps, which overturned Intel-Nvidia superiority over AMD-ATI based platforms.
Now part of that new brand optimized code has been enbodied also in the stock apps within the projects. It's actually good for science but at my eyes not all looks so crystal-clear.
Someone complaining for the diminishing credits in the vast number crunchin' arena was answered this way: "If you're crunching SETI you should not care about absolute credits only relative credit within the project because our credit system makes no sense to most of us" or "Both will recive less credits.
Continue to compete but with shortened сarrots :)".
The fact is that carrot has shortened for Intel/Nvidia/Windows platforms and has lenghtened for AMD/ATI/Linux ones.
Creditnew refined the picture, making credit granting really no sense to most of us.
I don't understand why a so complicated policy for credits granting was adopted. I would prefer a plain Flopcounter based one. The same work has to give the same credits, fullstop.
Remember users are spending of their own for the Seti@home project's advance, both for the hardware purchase and for the energy bill, You have to keep the whole thing honest and clean.

I'm not a net Guru and I cannot figure out what a hell is coming on.
This is what I noticed my side:
There's a size mismatch in every each uploaded result that's actually preventing successful uploading (in my case mostly around 0.72 KB).
Ciao.

I noticed that, it is a symptom, not the cause.

Symptom of What?
