21) Message boards : Number crunching : it's the AP Splitter processes killing the Scheduler (Message 1306363)

Post:
Hi,
The last couple of days my systems seemed to work fine. I have two fairly high end AMD processors, one a 4 core the other a 6 core and a little Intel laptop I3. I was receiving and sending WU's with no problem. Today I have tried to do an Update 6 times with or without the NNT thing and it still will not send the work. I keep getting the error of the project server being down.I have over 70 WU's on one maching, 12 on another and the laptop about 6 that won't update.
What the heck is going on? Is there something I can do to help fix this in my configuration?

Perplexed,

ok here is the file:

Looks to me like there is information on the OpenCL...
I bought a new (to me boat) so I won't be back until Wednesday.
Appreciate all your help and yes, the AMD stuff was on the computer, but I removed it. I don't believe that I had and software development kits on the machine. It was working fine before I went back home, ever since it's been a basket case... I will try to reseat the vidio card when I get back, It probably needs a chasis cleaning also so I'll do that when the case is open, who knows it may be dust that is suddenly causing this stranger things have happened to me in the past.

Ok guys, again thanks for all the input. I'll check the physical card this afernoon and insure it is seated properly and delete the driver and reload it. It is strange that the system was working fine before I left on vacation, and now isn't. I have the latest version of BOINC and driver for the NVIDIA TI 550. I'll let you know what happens after I do this.

Thanks,

Ok just deleted BOINC and reinstalled. still the same issue, this is the second time I did this. below is the current log file:
I haven't actually checked the physical board, like one guy said I should do that. I will tomorrow. System video card seems to work fine for all things except BOINC.

Claggy, I was using remote to this computer in the past and yes, it screwed up the GPU. I haven't been doing that lately, I plug in the monitor and Microsoft keyboard and mouse (wireless/usb) directly to Spock (the system I'm having problems with now) My other two computers, Kirk and McCoy one a desktop the other a wireless laptop are working fine. it's an MSI motherboard running a 6 core AMD processor.
I went to NVIDIA and installed the latest driver, re-booted and am still having the problem with the system not seeing the TI 550 card (NVIDIA)

Maybe because I went to Wisconsin and was at the Packers/Bears game on the 13th
:-) Go Packers!!

I did delete BOINC and reloaded it. Maybe I need to do that again and try.

Thanks for all your guys input.

Thanks, I updated the driver for the 550TI and still has issues with recoginizing the NVIDIA card, below is another dump of the log file. Can't quite figure this out, it was running fine when I left on vacation, 10 days ago, but when I got back i'm getting nothing. I will say we had a power glitch yesterday and caused me to reboot both computers, don't know if that is an issue or not. The video card is working now, after the power issue.

Suggestions?

I have an Nvidia TI 550 video card and am running Windows Professional, 12GB RAM and an AMD 6 core processor. I'v tried rebooting, shutting down and starting again and the system will not pick up any new tasks and says I don't have an NVIDA GPU.

Help Please....
Jim

I have a question... about 3-4 days ago my computer and BOINC went Bonkers! I was running 10 tasks mostly Cuda's. My system has 4 Cores (AMD) and one Nvida 260. How can that happen?? Most of the units that downloaded took about 2 seconds to download which is not normal and when they finished there were computation errors. I shut the system down and restarted, they were doing the same thing even after that.
I aborted all the current and pending tasks and tonight I did an update and got more tasks. I just checked the system and I seem to be running about 8 6.03 cuda processes and one Astropulse.
Have the way the GPU tasks processes changed?? In the past I would have 4 normal CPU tasks running and 1 Cuda.
BTW my computer which is not a wimp, was maxed out, sluggish curser, drive light maxed out when I first started seeing the issues with Seti. If I stopped BOINC everything returned to normal.

???

Hi,

I'm trying to use remote desktop to get to my other computer, I have an MSI mother board and an AMD X6 processor with an Nvidia 550 TI. When I remote into it, it says the GPU is missing. When I hook my keyboard and monitor directly to it, it still says the GPU is missing. I exit BOINC completly and then reload it. It will recognize it then. I did notice a couple of times that I would get an error from the Catalyst Manager so I uninstalled it, rebooted etc since I'm not running a Radion card.

Any suggestions? Oh, I'm running Windows 7 Professional on both systems.

Claggy

Ok I checked two of the computers and I have tasks that are due by 30 August and it is running tasks that are not due until 10 Oct. What can I do to prevent these tasks from being late? I checked preferences, and don't see any configuration for enforcing this.

Ok, just so I know, what is a high priority WU that seems to pop up once in awhile?

I don't mind running Beta programs, heck I developed a few of my own over the years. Now I just manage a computer center and the guys smile and say it's ok Jim we'll fix it, don't touch the servers. :-) I wonder if I could put an Nvidia card in my TRS-80 model 1 :-)

Ok richard, did I screw up by using Win 7 to check on the driver? I went to the driver in control panel and told it to update the driver on the web.

Ok, just shut down BOINC and restarted. Yes the line you said to check for is there, so I guess everything is running fine.
I'm just running the defaults can I do more optimization for my individual computers (X4, X6 and I3) or should I just use the defaults? I have good graphics cards on the X4 and X6, the Intel laptop sucks.

Thanks
