Took almost 5 years, and untold cpus that passed in and out of my life.

My 14 yr old son and I actually watched the counter roll over past the million.

I knew it was very close, called him over, started a drumroll, and refreshed the numbers...

Sure enough, it rolled past, I started whooping and jumping around.

Oh, man - that's just not possible...

Sun boxes are MAJOR pieces of hardware - the scope of their performance would smoke any pc/mac.

I'd trade this "bonus" if the proggy ran OK for its intended purpose...

Amen from the choir...

I've been running several 1.5's, and they are speedy little chips...

Although, they max out about par with a P4 2.8 - not the snappiest...

You are bang on about their relative performance vs power consumed - smokin...

Don't know about the Prescotts, but...

IMHO

Go AMD - Athlon 64, as big as possible - more memory the better...

I've got all cpu's in my pharm, and find the AMD does chew thru wu's faster (overall, and with time)...

Just one omniscient beings opinion...

As we know,

There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.
