Post: Thank God for the existence, the wisdom and the gift of expressing things eloquently, Mr. Korpela ! I mention God as in the CREATOR, anybody working with SETI surely appreciates that in some profound way ! I'm running SETI since Aug. 1999 I think, you can pinpoint that better than me ! For the past year or so, things are falling apart, what with CUDA Complaints, latest Norton sticking it's nose into SETI business and NVIDIA DEBUGGING ending with "Exception Thrown" ! My 8 CPU and 2 GPU Unit was built in 2010 by local "Computer Outlet Direct"(COD) with the AIM of "Producing 100'000 Credits" 24/7 ! Highest it ever got was around 30'000, and now it's struggling to make consistently 9'000 ! So, pardon my FRENCH, there are Day's and Moments, where I express my Frustrations in half Dozen Idioms, some only understood and appreciated by a few thousand Swiss ! I admit, that I am an IT IDIOT ! I "worked" on a IBM unit the size of a 6 Wheeler Truck Cargo Hold, back in 1971 in Germany during Engineering Studies, when such "Things" did less than an I-Phone Today ! I have trouble with I-Phones too, or visa versa ! Maybe the IT Folks live in their WORLD and I am I-Phone Things frustrated in mine ! My wife's Professions were Teacher, with 2 Graduate Degrees in Sociology and Psychology, last years she was a State Employed Therapist for Children ! She refuses to use an I-Phone ! She explains ; "It makes me feel STUPID" ! And since she does NOT CUSS, she has no way to vent those frustrations ! So, Mr. Korpela Sir, nowadays whether it's "Computers" or Politics, Folks are frustrated out of their Minds, because they are overwhelmed with things they do NOT Comprehend ! AND, CUSSING is a weak Mind trying to express it-selves ! So, where can You and I go from here to FIX my Unit ! I used to be in touch with Mike Bader, but over one year ago I got the feeling that these things got to be beyond his capabilities ; he did not consider my request to "Do a REMOTE analysis and fix" ! I would go to COD, but here again to them, it's a "Special Program", they'd rather NOT get Involved ! Thank you for your Patience; Do you have any Hints / Advise for me (Damned) ? |

Post: Dr. Korpela, 4Pablo2 = me does SETI 24-7 since last millennium. Dec. 2011 was start of this Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit 16 Meg Memory. You can see at Willy de Zuter Stats that the ten best 24 hour periods degraded within 12 months from ~ 100'000 down to now hardly 17'000 credits / 24 Hrs. I again plan to have a dedicated SETI unit built by our local COD / Computer Outlet Direct. This time I want it to run on LINUX to elliminate "Windows Rot" slow down problems ! What advise can you guide us to build and run a reliably performing 100K / 24Hrs. unit ? Thank you for your Dedication, Efforts and Guidance. Sincerely, Paul A. Willi, Eng. |

Post: Done SETI Since August 1999; am I supposed to be HERE, taking up SPACE ?! For one, I don't even know how to put my "Bragging Rights Bumper Sticker" up here! I DID FIX my 2x GPU GeForce 460 YESTERDAY, to run "Warp Speed" again, after trying to get HELP here, crying / P....ing into everybodys Motherboards since mid April HOWEVER, within (PAST) 24 Hours, ran "OUT of GPU FUEL" !!! As "The Man" said in "Shawshank Redemption": "This is a CONSPIRACY......." !!!! Running up to 4 Systems 24 / 7, accumulated so far 7.3 Mio + total; of which 6 Mio since Jan 2011 with this SSETI Unit. It was DESIGNED by local COMPUTER STORE PROFESSIONALS and my "Customer Wishes" to do 100'000 SETI Credits / 24 Hrs. +; however IT never quite achieved 30'000 ! And now here we are, seemingly "Castrated by the "Dark Forces" down to 13k ! With that kind of "Progress" in 13 Years, NO WONDER the "Aliens" are HIDING from US, laughing themselves silly no doubt about our technical, financial, industrial, political and YES, RELIGIOUS PROBLEMS ! VOLTAIRE (Google It !) on his DEATH BED said it best as the Answer to the initial "Last Rights Questions"; "Do You renounce SATAN....." ? Voltaire's Answer: "Why, at this time, would I want to make a new Enemy" ?!!! So, did I just do that ? Murphy's Law; "Friends come and go, Enemy's accumulate" ! Keep crunching "The Hell" out of Things SETI; the CREATOR has got to be infinitely grander than what we know or can imagine ! My personal fervent HOPE is, that the first "Law of Thermodynamics" has a RELIGIOUS FLY in it's SWILL: Energy can NOT be created, NOR destroyed ! CORRECT from a Standpoint like ALBERT EINSTEIN ! Incorrect per Voltaire or Contemporary: "If there is no GOD, then he needs to be INVENTED" ! NOW, Who exactly wrote things like "The Bible", on Stone or Pergament, with Plasma Beam or Ball Point Pen ..... ?! "There is nothing NEW under the Sun, but I do believe ..... or else we get what we have now; "The WRATH" of the 7 deadly Sins, one of which is GREED, as in Wall Street and Europe and Russia and China and...... ! Post: We took the daughter board out, and now jocelyn doesn't want to see the network anymore. Jeff and I are messing around with that now. The project doesn't need the replica to run, but it's better to have it, and we're once again finding ourselves frustrated with a random and pointless problem. Guess I won't be working on the splitter today..... Dude, that could be a message pict up by SETI from either several million light years back.... or front !
