I recently attached to the Seti@Home project on Boinc. What surprises me is the fact that the application (setiathome_3.07_windows_intelx86.exe) is bit for bit identical to the one for Beta Testing (Astropulse). The same goes for the banner image and .pdb file. I just did a project reset and it downloaded the same 3.07 application. Is this normal? Shouldn't the programs be *very* different? UPDATE: The Beta just downloaded 2 new workunits with the new version: setiathome_3.08_windows_intelx86.exe See also http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/ap/apps.php compared to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/apps.php |

Just an idea (maybe not directly related to this "crunching" forum). On the Applications page (http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/apps.php) maybe add the MD5 checksums. I also noted that the BOINC software page (http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download.php) seems outdated (compared to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/ap/download.php) |

No, It's the same project. Although it says Astropulse beta, it's been strictly S@H for months. :) As for the beta page being more up to date than the S@H page, the beta .exe has just been updated. S@H hasn't yet, but is next, along with a database reset. |
