Hi, I'm up 'n running with 5 computers in the new BOINC system.

I know that a nomber of results have been sent back to the server...but my account says:

Total credit 0.00
Recent average credit 0.00

Why is that????

You results need to be verified by two other hosts.

This can take several weeks. The speed is dependant on several variables.

1- How quick are the other hosts the WU has been sent to?

2- How quick these other hosts will report the results. Will they do it manually, or let the scheduler pick them up automatically? If they go the automatic route, this can be accomplished two ways. It will either grab them the next time the host asks for more work, or around 24hours before the WUs deadline. If the host has a large cache, it could be a week or two before it asks for more work. If BOINC comes up against the deadline, this can also be two weeks away.

3- Has any host given the WU reset or detached, thus "flushing" the WU? If a WU has been "thrown out", the scheduler will wait until the deadline expires before adding it to the "pool" of WUs to be sent out again. This could take two weeks for the deadline, then more time depending on how many WUs are in the pool. Then we are back to numbers 1 and 2.

And finally,
4- How quick the validator processes the WU. Currently, there is a serious backlog the validator is chewing through.

Credit
The project's server keeps track of how much work your computer has done; this is called credit. To ensure that credit is granted fairly, most BOINC projects work as follows:

* Each work unit may be sent to several computers.
* When a computer reports a result, it claims a certain amount of credit, based on how much CPU time was used.
* When at least 3 results have been returned, the server compares them. If the results agree, then users are granted the smaller of the claimed credits.
-------------------------------------------
ow credit is determined
When your computer completes a result, BOINC determines an amount of claimed credit in one of two ways:

* In general, the claimed credit is the result's CPU time multiplied by the CPU benchmarks as measured by the BOINC software. NOTE: the BOINC software is not optimized for specific processors. Its benchmark numbers may be lower than those produced by other programs.
* Some applications determine claimed credit themselves, and report it to BOINC. This would be the case, for example, with applications that use graphics coprocessors or other non-CPU hardware.

Claimed credit is reported to a project when your computer communicates with its server. The granted credit that you receive may be different from the claimed credit, and there may be a delay of a few hours or days before it is granted. This is because some BOINC projects grant credit only after results have been validated.
--------------------------
AND THE REST IS ;-)
