I'm trying out BoincView on Windows XP Pro.

BoincView requires the "allow_remote_gui_rpc" option is set for the boinc client but I can't find any information on how to set this up.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

Use the boinc_cli.exe in the same directory as where you have BOINC running from. It's command line options are the following:

Usage: boinc_cli [options]
-version show version info
-install install boinc as a Windows Service
-uninstall uninstall boinc as a Windows Service
-exit_when_idle Get/process/report work, then exit
-show_projects show attached projects
-return_results_immediately contact server when have results
-detach_project URL detach from a project
-reset_project URL reset (clear) a project
-attach_project attach to a project (will prompt for URL, account key)
-update_prefs URL contact a project to update preferences
-run_cpu_benchmarks run the CPU benchmarks
-check_all_logins check input from remote users
-allow_remote_gui_rpc allow remote GUI RPC connections

Thanks for that Jord. Sorry, I'm a bit confused though!

How does this fit in with the regular boinc_gui? If I run boinc_cli I end up with 2 lots of crunchers.

The thing is, you don't use the GUI at that time. Close down the GUI and run the CLI only.

Although I concur that there's very little info around on how to set it up and what it does exactly. ;)
