I have my original seti1 account. I attached, etc and all was fine, but an error (detached by accident) got it fouled up...(another matter and that has been fixed).

I am now attempting to go to this site and request my activation key/password as I cannot find the email (YES, I know I should have saved it and I did... *somewhere*).

Is there a link on *THIS* or some other site to allow me to recover my original 'Seti1' account?

I have, as a stopgap measure for testing, a disposable account (a new one)...

May I ask for assistance in recovering the password(s) (having it emailed).

I would love to search by email address and have password send, and then the 'attach' would do there rest.

currently there are actually two of me in here... getting both passwords would be nice... and it would be good to know which goes with which address..

Those of you who know me, have my common email address... the other address is similiar and (THIS userid... 5xxxxx is the one I REALLY need the activation key/password for. The actual email address is just reversed but in the same domain. The other account (333xxxxxxxxx) may be discarded... or, better yet, merged if possible. Is it possible to merge?

Deepest thanks,
Chuck

You have to log out of the website (user-page -> logout in the bottom) and then go to the userpage again. Now there is a field where you can press "I forgot my key" or something.

Good luck =)

I had a similar problem, where the client BOINC system could not contact the scheduling server, and eventually removed seti from my registered projects. This seems most drastic. It requires me to remember some arcaine information because your server is overloaded or not functioning. Can't the program be changed to simply stop making requests to the server and inform the user of this action, just like the original Seti program?

If you really want people to use this system, you have to make it easy, easy, easy to use. If I have to re-configure the project every time the server goes down or there are any significant communication problems, it won't be worth it... You should more closely model the way the original seti program worked...

You don't need to reconfigure the project every time the server goes down. Are you saying that your unattaches when this happens?

I tried connecting, entered my project info, etc. I got continual timeout messages (each message indicating the net connection attempt would be xx minutes later) and after several of these, it said unable to connect to scheduleing server and detached from the project. I do not believe it was able at that time to get a Host ID. My project list was then blank. Any time I started BOINC up it would prompt me for the project to connect to, since my stored list was empty.

I have since re-connected to the project, but have not recieved a work unit. I figure I'll wait till you guys get this more cleaned up, then try again, perhaps some time next week.
