boinc won't install

i downloaded boinc for windows but it won't install...it goes thru the unpakaging and then it doesn't do anything....can anyone help me? |

Disable your virus scanner and any DC project(s) you may already have running. They sometimes get enough of the CPU that the installer program can't run. John Keck BOINCing since 2002/12/08 |

Distributed computing project, like seti I or F@H. Basically kill anything you can. Rebooting before install will hopefully clear out any rogue processes, rebooting after will get everything you killed running again. John Keck BOINCing since 2002/12/08 |

I got this problem with Microsoft Longhorn build 4074. To fix this OS issue, I installed BOINC manually. InstallShield v5.5 (the setup software used by Berkeley) is not supported yet on this OS. If you want to know how, let me know but I warn you ... it's not the easiest way! Now everything is working fine! |
