Having returned my computer to Seti at Home. I have a question about the information we are crunching data to find. Are we just detecting a signal. IE just looking for a meter reading that increases in strength, or are we trying to detect information being sent in the signal found.? I have always wondered if waiting to hear a signal municipal times before confirming its existence is prudent. . With every thing in the universe is spinning in relation to each other the likely hood of seeing s signal more than once is small unless some advance civilization has developed a powerful isotropic source to transmit from. So it would seem to me that every signal detected should be scanned for some type of information transferring technology.

If perhaps rather the OP here instead, not a bad point either, because we are still left to guess about our own uniqueness, for only among the plants and animals of Earth,
except for not making it any Intelligence for only a signal which perhaps might not be detected.

Make it a rather a given Probability, for sometimes a Proof as well, and at least an estimate for the possible number of intelligent civilizations,
except for not living in any hope either, for only that of an assumption, when it also could be the total as well, for only such a number.

I don't lurk as such.

I get involved in a couple of threads but I do look around.

You haven't posted for a while Michael. (July.)

Maybe something will peak your interest or you could create some thread.

Good to say hello to our quieter fellow Boincers.

Hello to you :)

Today was a perfect Fall day. Sweater weather in the morning, and then a high around 60 F, clear, low humidity. We've had a ton of rain here this year - over 106 inches, which is double the average - so I think that has fueled the trees for some awesome color in the leaves. :~)

Nice fall day here, got down to 60 F with fog last night, high should be about 80 F, you got about 100 inches more rain than we did, and palm fronds don't change colors.

IIRC for good color you need some nights near freezing so the sap drains.

Yeah, we've had that, too. It got down below freezing early one morning, last week.
