Probably a better idea honestly. It seems more normal.

I am also considering two of the board that TBar is using...

Pls remind me, what brand/model of MB is TBAR using for that high gpu machine he is running?

My AMD1-L rig froze in the last few days.
I restarted it and reduced the cores to see if that helps.
The app restarted without any issues.

I guess a plan to buy another GTX 1060 per payday is afoot.
I dont think anyone can touch the two top masters but I'm close to the first page so I've done the best I can afford.
I was tinkering with the idea of a mass campaign to recruit crunchers on my account but I'm not sure how to approach that.
I am not the social butterfly that some seem to be...

Alas, we are all who we are at the core...

So your mining rig is the earlier MB or the later one?

GROAN... your pun shakes me to the "core."

Is your goal to get to the first page of the LeaderBoard on the individual contributors or to make it on to the first page of the top computer LeaderBoard or both?

Congratulations on making back up onto the 2nd page of the individual systems LeaderBoard!!!

Just in time for Thanksgiving. I hope all of your less public endeavors are also prospering!

I was looking at your other computers and saw several e5-26xx's running without hyperthreading. How is that changing your cpu task to completion times?

Well, I lost the mining rig due to stupidity.
I will not be replacing it. I will most likely get two of the same board TBar is running next payday and six more GPU's.
I made it to the first page!

A bitter sweet day that will go down in infamy!

I'll be back!

Just to update on the Gigabyte FinTech board. So far, only 11 GPUs will work reliably on this board. There appears to be some driver problem if you try to run 12. It will run for a few hours and then one GPU will drop out and will start producing Errors similar to the ones the ex-WildCard machine is producing. So if you run this board, or apparently Any mining board in Linux, try running just 11 GPUs. It runs great with just 11 GPUs.

I'm going to try replacing the i7-6700 with an i5-6600 a little later. With the 6700 the CPU usage in the mining board averages just below 50%, and I'm really not going to use that other 50%. So, I'll replace the CPU with a slightly cheaper (50%) i5-6600 and use the i7 in another machine I'm building where I can use that unused 50%. The new machine should be running shortly...

Anybody got an idea about a MB which can handle both 11-12 gpus and 32 cores?

If the cpu speeds were up near 2.6GHz + turbo boost and the gpus were racked on (with lighting) it could be a "high tech" Christmas Tree (aka: what do I want for Christmas :)

The mobo TBar is running can be had on ebay for $50 each!
I have two coming now. I hope the CPU on the ASUS wasn't damaged but I am assuming that mobo got a nasty power supply bite.
I have the good power supplies now as well.

I hope when we do find the aliens that they really do have transporter capability.
I hate waiting for shipping! ;-)

If they dont, whats the point in finding them??

TBar!

Got the mobo you have. Is it normal for Linux to take many minutes to load to the desktop?

TBar,also, the NVIDIA settings thing grabs 4 GPU's one boot and then 5 the next and then loses one again...
Also the system acts real slow for some reason....

Seems the beast had a hung up GPU. Attempting to identify which one it might be...

Like you said, I upgraded the BIOS to F3. I have 12GB on the board. Starting over adding GPU's.

Confounded again!

4G decoding on. Mining off. 1 GPU in the main slot okay. 1 GPU in the main slot plus one with a riser okay. 1 in the main and two risers are not recognizes at all!

I'm baffled....

I moved the risers around and can get two good GPU's using any riser slot but the system will not see more than two no matter what I do. Maybe this mobo has something wrong with it...

what kind of risers are you using? can you post a link to them?

are they the kind that gets power from the motherboard (ribbon cable)? or are they the kind that gets power externally from a PSU connection (usb cable)?

do you have the 2 molex connectors on the motherboard plugged in? this may or may not be required. if using risers with external power, having this connection wont be needed for supplying power, but some boards might it require just to boot with many cards. i know an old AsRock board I had wouldn't boot with more than 4 GPUs if i didnt plug it in, even though the power wasnt really necessary. it was a BIOS limitation at that point.

my first suggestion was going to be turning on 4G decoding. but it looks like you've done that.

i don't know what "mining mode" does on that particular board so maybe TBar can chime in about that.

also i would make sure you have the PCIe speeds set to Gen3
