ok then, well it can't find the application because the server at seti hasn't sent it yet to you. Fri 17 Aug 2018 12:24:55 AM EDT | SETI@home | File referenced in app_info.xml does not exist: setiathome_v8 I'm guessing you're using Tbar's ready-to-go pack? With an app_info.xml file there, Seti won't send you any files as it expects you to already have them all. Grant Darwin NT |

Your preferences have been updated, and will take effect when your computer communicates with SETI@home or you issue the Update command from the BOINC Manager. |

Click on your name in the right upper corner of this page. That will take you to your account page. Middle of page is Preferences. Click on Seti@home preferences. This will open the Global preferences page. The first section is the default preferences. Click edit preferences at the bottom of this first location (default). That will allow you to make changes. Should SETI@home show your computers on its web site?Click this Then click update preferences. It will take up to 5 minutes for the change to take effect. |

That is normal for a new computer. It will start with 1 or 2 task and wait to see if you return them. Once you do it will send a few more until you get 11 validated task. After that it will send you 100 CPU task |

Did you look at your computer to see if that work unit is running? |

yes it is, but without the GPU running i felt like it was computing slowly, 24 hours remaining, so I am working on installing windows 7, we will see what happens with that, if it doesnt work, then I know i can go back to mint, I could not find how to install the gforce graphics drivers into mint, The puter has no cdrom, |

Well the estimates are not accurate until you have 11 valid work units so the estimates are all wrong at first. You don't need the GPU drivers if you are only crunching on the CPU. Just need to see what happens first once you get a few work units done. Depending on CPU chip, it will decide how fast the work unit finishes in. |

Well all my computers are crunchers so I don't restrict them. Every one of them is set to 100% but I would not recommend that for your daily driver. how far along has it crunched that work unit? |

im off and going now, I found the drivers for the geforce card, but the gpu was running at 100%, and it was hot, so I killed the gpu and I am running just the cpu at 75%, I now have 4 dedicated PC's running and that more than I could ask for. I am working on getting an old server that an office isnt using, maybe I can get that one going too. |

For the windows machines there is a free app called TThortle that is located here https://efmer.com/ that will keep your Gpu from getting hotter than you want it to. It basically slows the gpu down till its temperature is at/below the temp you have set. Don't forget to click on the "active" box and find the "autostart" and "boinc" boxes in maybe the third tab. Can you remind us what the make/model of video cards you have? If you can afford them, used Gtx 750Ti's do a nice job of crunching. Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

Lol I'm willing to bet that that was just an honest fat finger event there. ;-) |
