There are a lot of different symbols associated with my home state of Kentucky, but my favorite is the Northern Cardinal bird. They stay here year-round, and look especially impressive on a snowy winter day.

SOUTH Australia's floral emblem - Sturt's Desert Pea - may join marijuana on a banned list of plants under proposed new laws.

I just noticed this was stated in 2011, seems this law never happened as many garden centers sell the seeds or plant..

Texas' state flower is the bluebonnet.




State bird is the northern mockingbirds.


State animal is the Texas longhorn.

Washington has this, it's called Mt. Rainier, it's pretty cool. OBTW there are several more that are almost as big and picturesque.
